Naming your input devices in IL2?

Is it possible to give input devices a name that shows up in the controls mapping screen?  When I map joystick buttons, they read as "Joy6_BTN5", for example.  I would rather that they read something like "WTHG_BTN5", or something similarly customized.

 

Has anyone found a way to edit a config file to do this?

Nope.

 

But the name of device don't matter, since you don't are able to select device (joystick/pedal/throttle...) by name or "nickname" (joy6) - like is possible in DCSW drop down menu - no risk to mix names/devices during assignment. The button registered is the one you press.

yea that's not going to happen, i.e. to many ID devices first of all, and second it's written through DX_Device_Inputs, DX is the numerator for input device. and that's controlled by Micro$oft.
