[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) I wonder what it is that fellow in the main menu is welding? And will they ever be done? is it a representation of the team, in constant work to improve out sim? Maybe they are making customizable pieces to decorate our hangers with? I think it would be neat if the welder was replaced by a few maintenance crew having a smoke or what ever they do on their spare time... I will soon find out Also wish we could have a "fix your plane" or "maintenance" mini game in the new career mode, Plane isn't going to be perfect on each flight, even a "note from mechanic" saying maybe that you took damage to a certain component and cant be fixed for a few days, or sends you up with minimum equipment set up... "Your vsi was damaged so we need a replacement, 2-3 days,VFR only and no night flying" Would just be fun, and little more immersion no? Maybe make you think twice before taking on a flight in the distance away from your mission? Wow went off on a tangent... Edited June 24, 2017 by spartan85
Feathered_IV Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 It's pretty strange. I guess somebody just thought it would be cool, without considering what aircraft are usually made of. It would be good for World of Tanks though.
xvii-Dietrich Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 I wonder what it is that fellow in the main menu is welding? And will they ever be done? Hah, yes... he should take a break - especially when I'm trying to do key-bindings. That constant flickering while trying to re-map all my keys is really annoying! is it a representation of the team, in constant work to improve out sim? That's a nice thought. +1 Also wish we could have a "fix your plane" or "maintenance" mini game in the new career mode, {...} The A2A-AccuSim warbirds series and a few others have something like that. It is a really nice feature. But probably something better suited to the study sims rather than a combat sim. Still, I like the idea of the person who invests a lot of time in their maintenance hanger being able to tweak their aircraft to better performance or reliability levels!
Ribbon Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Also wish we could have a "fix your plane" or "maintenance" mini game in the new career mode, Please NO, after all day at work fixing airplanes i don't wanna come home and do more malfunction fixing on airplanes.I want to fly them and crash them.
ShamrockOneFive Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 The community made the suggestion. The hangar was a little lifeless in the Battle of Stalingrad pre-access period. They added a few things to the hangar to make things feel a little more alive. I kind of like the idea that our welder friend in the corner will never be done. Kind of representative of the sim always expanding 1
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted June 24, 2017 Author Posted June 24, 2017 It would be neat if they had a few silhouettes of higher ups smoking pipes looking at the Kuban map, the next big thing Please NO, after all day at work fixing airplanes i don't wanna come home and do more malfunction fixing on airplanes. Danziger Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Pretty sure any spare time those maintenance teams had was spent sleeping or eating. Those men and women had a lot of duties.
Guest deleted@83466 Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Along the same lines, I thought it was kind of cool in the Rise of Flight hangar that one of the airplanes is an I-16.

[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted June 24, 2017 Author Posted June 24, 2017 Croatian firefighting sqadroon, working on canadair cl-415 water bomber Oh my god, awesome man! How are they on the maintenance side?
Ribbon Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) Oh my god, awesome man! How are they on the maintenance side?It is a working horse, working in stressfull conditions, scooping water on sea which means waves so there is a lot of malfunctions and preventive maintenance. Most demanding plane i've been working on. Working as AME is not so awesome if you want to use your creativity and improvisation, everything must be by the books so it is boring sometimes. But salary is good. Edited June 24, 2017 by redribbon
CheapTrick Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 I truly miss the Welder in the main menu screen. I'd pay real money if IL-2 would bring him back. 1
