since i started flight simming this problem is existent...well im sure, its existent ever since flight sims exist...

what i really cant comprehend is, how these trolls get any fun out of their actions...this must be boring as hell...

the one guy yesterday just spawned in a He, and tried to snipe everybody on spawn away...

im also definitely for more server admin tools....

the ban-vote feature is something that can go both ways...last week on berloga there were 3guys who started a ban-vote against me, because i dared to shoot them down...in this case i was happy that this feature is pretty much non functional...

but the admins should have all the rights and possibilities...also to elect admins in game which then have all the power too...with a permanent ban possibilty which bans the player ID....so that if the troll wants to ever come back, he has to buy the game again...

Its not just flight sims, its every online experience. Its the internet. Some folk are just like that. Its the same mentality as the kid that cant get a girlfriend so he takes his guns to school. Server hosts need the tools to suspend and then ban. Vote kick options can and will be abused. Ive played online and everytime a vote is completed up pops another vote. Its never ending. The server hosts need the tools. It also creates in the community the knowledge of the good and bad servers.

I had to ban some players a couple times when I used to host in the old IL2,  once for a couple team killers, and once for a squad that demanded that I stop the mission and ad the FW 190 to the plane set.

It was a 1942 Pacific scenario.

I explained to them that the Germans did not fly FW 190s in the Pacific, but they kept spamming the chat, and taking up player slots without flying, so, POOF!... I made them go away.

I'm surprised that this function is not available in this title.

... oh God.

This guy is not an active member in our unit.  He joined our site but never really became a part of our group.  Based on this report, he is gone from our site as of now.  I can't tolerate this kind of childish behavior and I ask that the community please not associate our group with this individuals conduct.  Hopefully he will remove the tag that links him to our unit.  Thanks.

Right now on WOL there are 5 players teamkilling, shooting friendlies, dropping bombs on friendly bases, and generally just attempting to ruin everyone's fun.

The names are:

These are amateur teamkiller, look at this professional teamkiller....

It can happen to make a mistake and often are just noobs that do not recognize aircraft.

However, I've never seen such things in so many years of playing with the legendary IL2 1946 b.M (before Mod)

There were some 4./JG52 guys online at the time, and they expressed surprised that the player in question was wearing their tags.

This guy name "Koras" also goes by the following:

Other names of the pilot on this account: Axekav, Reisenberg, Brad12, Durant, Heinrich_RUS, g54fdsg6234fdg65, Sun_Moon, Kasv, Nozr, Axl

This blurb appeared at the bottom of the link you posted ITAF_Cymao, so apparently he regularly signs in with one of his psuedo names and goes about his business of team killing . . . .

sorry, I didn't see it, I will try to be more observant in future.

However, I personally avoid playing on WoL server, mainly due to the easy availability of aircraft which makes this TK easier. If you had to stock an airfield with your chosen aircraft like some servers do, TK-ing using suicide tactics becomes tiresome her quickly (i would imagine), so my advice is move to a different server. This may put off new flyers/players, but I think most people who want to fly online would realise this.

I imagine purpose driven teamkillers just go wherever there are other players to mess with. If you move everybody from WoL into your preferred server; guess where these teamkillers are going to go.

I imagine you mean it takes an aircraft with a gunner position to make it easier to teamkill - are you saying there are no planes available with gunner positions on the server you play? Is that what you meant?

Aside from my comments to you OldJames, I remember a fella, about 13 years ago, who would occasionally join an IL2 server and he would jump in a PE-8 - and you could kit that thing out with a very very large bomb that created a huge mushroom cloud - and this little germ would wait until a few people had spawned in and were starting up and he'd drop these bombs right on the ramp. He'd happily do that for a half hour or so. There was never anybody around to kick him. Many were reluctant to leave, because they were having so much fun in that particular server. I remember everybody trying to get a fast take off to get away, and often people would fail and I imagine that little kid laughing his tits off. Seems funny now lol; it wasn't then though - being a victim. A couple of years later I saw he had grown up - 10cm or so I guess, and was on the old Ubi forum asking for help on how to fly the planes.

Kids will be kids though, I suppose. And I agree, it would be nice to have a way to see them marched off out the door and booted up the arse. Is it all worth it though? All that management and time spent organising mods and admins and shifts and etc, etc for the the few times they are there? Not sure. Sure is frustrating though. I suppose if people want to - then all the best.

Interesting, Nozr was one of the people blocking the airfield, though I can't remember if he was in the Heinkels on the ground or the 109's shooting up whoever survived takeoff.

This is not the first time this has happened, and it needs to stop if the multiplayer scene is to continue to thrive. This is not whining, this is not sour grapes, this is fact.

At the absolute minimum, what is needed is:

  • Better in-game administration tools.  The current "vote ban" system is not good because half the players don't even know about it, and it takes too long.  What should happen is: One player initiates a vote, and then everyone is given the opportunity to press, say, F1 to vote Yes, and F2 to vote no.  One keystroke, nice and easy.  Pop-up a message on the screen to alert players that a vote is taking place.
  • The ability to define server admins that have unilateral kick and ban powers.  This should be done granularly so that you can give someone kick power but not ban power, the ability to promote other players to admin temporarily, etc.
  • The ability to define thresholds for friendly fire that will cause the server to automatically kick and/or ban problem players
  • The ability to more precisely define the vote threshold.  Currently, too many players are apathetic and will not vote.  As a result, votes never pass even with 10-15 votes
  • The ability to ignore/block ingame chat from a player.
These are features that every successful multiplayer title has from Day 1, and if you want the IL2 brand to succeed, you're going to have to make it a priority to support your community of online players.

We need better tools to manage the servers.

Oh, and I see I've received some official comment.

A moderator unilaterally decided to move this thread to the Suggestions board, guaranteeing that this will receive decreased visibility and attention. I put the thread in GD for a reason. Nobody reads this section.

Great job, moderator. Doing a real service.

Well, I guess I have my answer.

Contact WoL server admin that goes by user name Gagarin if you have complains to be addressed. There is a dedicated thread for WoL server.

Think positive, they didnt close the thread they just moved it!

Contact WoL server admin

Unfortunately I dont believe admins of a server can do something, for this JG13_opcode asked an official comment from the developers!

1. If someone has complains about WoL,contact admins. Here is the list of WoL admin representatives

REDFOX-WL-GAGARIN

Vachik

Maxyman

Kirill

2. If someone has a suggestion(s) about improving gameplay, this is the correct thread.

3. WoL thread on russian forum has been locked for some time and is only open to add news and changes.Lots of salt to be mined there. Due to neverending accusations and other yada-yada.

4. It is not official server run by developers. If someone doesnt like whats going on there,or suppose admins cant do this and that....dont fly there. Can save a lot of salt yourself.

Will squads be able to host coops on their computers like in 1946? or password protect them?

Hi Brano, I think you have missed the point of this thread.

It is a request for new game features, and is not really about WOL

Yep,I missed the point and you missed the thread/forum section. Moderator moved it where it belongs. And that's all :D

The thread is not a suggestion. It is a statement of fact as to what is needed.

well dude...thats your view...doesnt mean its the truth...im with the op...the current possible exploits are harming IL2, and denying it as a forum warrior....well, helps only your agenda....but the real question is...how long little fella....

Posted

1st part of OP is a complain about particular server and particular users behaviour on that server. That part belongs to WoL dedicated thread,or better,to be addressed directly to server administration.

2nd part begins with "what is needed". Which is just a suggestion, unless the person started the thread is game developer, which he is not.

Maybe I will report you to forum moderators for that "dude forum warrior little fella" but looking at your "invaluable" contribution in every other post you make here,I dont feel like offended at all :D

3. Developers rarely comment directly in a thread such as this, particularly if it seems caustic. They rightly avoid arguing with the community now, which wasn't always the case and was very bad for PR.
