dburne Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 (edited) http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/press/thrustmaster-take-part-e3-2017-multiple-world-exclusives Appears may be some interesting news at E3 next week from Thrustmaster... Edited June 10, 2017 by dburne
Jason_Williams Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 My guess is a version of their budget stick with an Elite bundle. From what I know any new high end hardware is quite a ways out. Jason
dburne Posted June 11, 2017 Author Posted June 11, 2017 https://www.facebook.com/ThrustmasterOfficial/videos/1256881461108201/ If this is all, I am not much impressed...
Thad Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Salutations, It would be great if Thrustmaster presents a new FA-18 style joystick along the lines of and with equitable Warthog quality.
dburne Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) Salutations, It would be great if Thrustmaster presents a new FA-18 style joystick along the lines of and with equitable Warthog quality. Based on an earlier press release, it would seem that may be the case eventually. Not sure if it might be a HOTAS or simply a new grip. However it would appear as Jason stated, may be a ways out yet - I doubt anything would be shown or discussed on that at this year's E3 though. Sounds like their focus will be on a budget space sim offering along with a new racing wheel setup. Edited June 12, 2017 by dburne
Lusekofte Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 They are going to reveal it together with DCS F 18 , my guess is a new grip for Warthog a F 18 grip. Witch will be very popular in DCS community
Warpig Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Salutations, It would be great if Thrustmaster presents a new FA-18 style joystick along the lines of and with equitable Warthog quality. "Warthog quality" is pretty shoddy at best. I would hope they replaced that plastic ball and spring with metal internals. Especially for the prices they charge.... 1

Especially for the prices they charge.... Surprisingly for me that is the part of my Warthog that has lasted me without a single issue, never felt the need to re-grease, has always been very smooth and with an extension hardly any sticktion. And I got mine shortly after the Warthog was released. I think I got very lucky on that part of my setup. I agree though, I hope their next high end offering does offer metal gimbal system especially as what is currently being offered by VKB and Virpil. And to be fair, just the stick alone from Virpil and VKB ain't exactly cheap - if one waits for a good sale they can get the complete Warthog setup for about the same or maybe just a little more. And the Hog is pretty much always in stock, no need to pre-order and wait for batch runs... Edited June 12, 2017 by dburne 1
Blutaar Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 They need to build a better Joystick Gimbal like BRD, VKB and VIRPIL does. That plastic ball is a pain in the arse!

American flight sim products are just an embarrassment compared to their Russian and European counter-parts.

dburne Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 It is starting to appear the main focus is on their racing wheels. Announced shortly ago TM has signed a partnership with Sparco - a high quality motorsports equipment manufacturer. https://www.thrustmaster.com/en_US/Пресса/thrustmaster-signs-partnership-sparco-high-quality-motorsports-equipment-maker
Warpig Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 uh they're canadian.. dont mix them up with us...Thrustmaster that is.. lol had no idea. Maybe I should just refer to them as North American.
dburne Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) TM was founded in the U.S. in 1992 , ( those were the days) then was aquired by Guillemont in 1999. Edited June 13, 2017 by dburne

Blutaar Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Looks like plastic to me but not a problem, the gimbal is the part that sucks about this stick. Sad that there is still no helicopter style grip with a real thumb button, this litte 4 way hat pushbutton sucks for heli flying.

I am happy for the community in general that the options for nice controls is expanding, but on a personal note, with VKB and Virpil on the board, I cannot see spending another penny on the a Thrustmaster product (especially one that replaces the best part of the previous product, the grip, but keeps the worst part, the base/gimbal). VKB and Virpil offer all around objectively better options, design, workmanship, and quality in every measurable as well as intangible aspect. Only issue is continuous production level and availability. Edited June 13, 2017 by Bearfoot

Perhaps when I can get the MCG grip I will give it a try, so still using my extended Warthog which does very well for me. I also have the Virpil offering on order ( prepaid in April) with extensions and desk mount bracket, it was supposed to ship end of May. They announced a delay on May 31st and would be giving another update in 2-3 days, but have strangely gone silent since then.... nothing on the forums, no further info on their website.
