Wonder if others have experienced this. On June 8th there was an upgrade to SteamVR but it seems to have an effect on IL2 BoS which now only starts in non-VR mode but hangs when I try to force VR. I tend to get the message that I have chosen the non-VR option, instead of the window with the choice between VR and non-VR.

Sure hope this state of affairs doesn't last long as it means I am grounded with BoS.

still working ok as usual for me.

Are you on the Steam VR Beta?

That is odd, not having that problem here either...

suspect it's as so often the case that particular hardware/software combinations have sometimes obscure side-effects, everything was working well and suddenly without any changes on my part the sim refuses to operate in VR. Looking at the Steam forums there are others with issues relating to this upgrade on other softwares.

My SteamVR was updated yesterday and I played BoX right after the update was installed. No problems at all.

PS. Nice avatar. I finished reading Emelianenko's book literally yesterday. Great reading.

Close everything. Open Steam. Open Steam VR separately. Make sure Steam VR is recognizing your HMD.  Then go to IL-2 in your library. You should see a button "Play in VR".

Yes, that does it, thank you so much. Had never used that method previously, only ever using the mouse right click menu off the task bar icon. Those shortcuts don't work with this new SteamVR but the 'Play in VR' in Library does so wonderful. I do appreciate your assistance ClarkFable.

Yes, quite agree, the book makes for great reading. He must have been quite a fellow, totally resolute and imperturbable, deservedly made Hero of the Soviet Union.

I have the standalone version of BOS and was having the same problem after today's SteamVR beta update. I just unsubscribed from the beta and that fixed it.

At any point must I check off VR Enabled in In-game options? I can't seem to get this to be permanant;after reboot it is unchecked again.I wonder if it is automatic when VR game is up & running?

It is automatic when you get the game running. The blue button in the 2D-monitor-based Steam Library should always read "play in VR". Make sure you have SteamBeta disabled (SteamVR is supposed to be a just a blank white space and you do not start IL-2 from within, but always from the desktop).

Blitzen's problem solved. He had a "reshader" program installed. I thought I had IL-2 returned to a clean install but his mod program was still in there. Once I took out the files manually, it worked.
