PBY_BlackCat Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Hello, I was just curious if a gtx 1060 is enough to run an oculus for IL2. My CPU is a decent AMD if that makes a difference. I can usually get 60 fps on high and 1080p but it occasionally drops. Also, is VR sickness as prevalent as people say? I don't want to spend $500 on something I can only use in 15 minute bursts.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) Yes, If its a good quality Card brand with good clock speeds (but there are better cards, Most high end 980ti will do much better than our 1060)Even going by Nvidia Website its VR Rated.(but for what games @ what resolutions)Mine easily pulls 90-120 fps with Hud off on ULTRA Settings(SSAO & HDR ON, DISTANT TERRAIN X4, TERRAIN FILTERING SHARP)Also i only have a FX-8350 @ 4.3Ghz (4 cores loaded 15-25%)BUT Its all on a older PCI-E 2.0 Motherboard which is majorly hurting cards abilities versus a new PCI-E 3.0Will even run 60fps on 4K High Settings.Which is about the same as VR with 1.5xSS @ near 4K but thats @ 60fps not 90 needed for VRFor Normal Gaming in IL2(Not VR)FX-8350 + GTX1060(6GB) Should pull a constant 50-75fps with HUD ON (ULTRA, 1080P, NO INGAME AA, TERRAIN x4)If you struggling to get that fps Try this CORRECT Nvidia Profile Guide i made this morninghttps://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/29632-guide-nvidia-control-panel-profile-gtx780-1080ti/But for VR i would Still recommend a GTX1070 or better maybe. Not sure which headset you are considering, if the Rift I would suggest downloading and running the Oculus Rift System checker and see what it reports back on your system's capabilities for running the Rift. https://support.oculus.com/1357437467617798 I tend to get motion sick very easily, and the first couple of weeks or so with my Rift I had to take breaks in between. I have gotten so used to it now I hardly even notice anymore, can go extended periods of time with no problem, Hope this helps,

I take a big hit there. Sorry to keep badgering you with questions, BTW. Appreciate the responses.
marklar Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Mine easily pulls 90-120 fps with Hud off on ULTRA Settings(SSAO & HDR ON, DISTANT TERRAIN X4, TERRAIN FILTERING SHARP) You get these fps in VR or on a monitor mode?
sinned Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 In VR, when I do a hard g pull, and towards the end of a loop, i literally get light headed. Thats how powerful VR makes you believe you are in a real plane.
BlueHeron Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Regarding sickness, high frame rates is essential to play comfortably. Otherwise, you can experience nausia and/or headaches.
sinned Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 You get these fps in VR or on a monitor mode? Monitor. He likes to post sensational claims for hardwares he does not own... Dunno why he likes to do that... i got tricked b4.
dburne Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Monitor. He likes to post sensational claims for hardwares he does not own... Dunno why he likes to do that... i got tricked b4. Yeah the dead giveaway was getting up to 120 fps. VR is capped at 90 fps ( at least Rift and Vive are )... VR is a whole nother animal. However 1CGS has done an outstanding job in their implementation of VR support - the performance I can get in it was totally unexpected on my part based on other experiences. They deserve major kudos for the job they have done.
marklar Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 Monitor. He likes to post sensational claims for hardwares he does not own... Dunno why he likes to do that... i got tricked b4. I thought so. I own 980ti which is a lot faster than his 1060 and I struggle to get stable 90fps on Balanced settings. Flying over Stalingrad in campaign with dozens of AI around can drop my fps to 40 and lower.
