In thanks for giving the source code of CLOD to Team Fusion I have purchased battle of Kuban. I've been flying a 110 for a while against the brits I'll be sure to try out a transfer to the eastern front. I am ecstatic about the move to the US pacific. This is my true passion. Give us F4U!!!! Thanks again.

Welcome Diamondaxe! You would do well to pick up the rest of the series. You should try multiplayer as well....great fun!

If you like CoD you will love this series. Although far from perfect, the experience is amazing and the scenery and immersion is outstanding.

The G2 110 is also fast becoming a firm favourite.

what does releasing the source code mean for CloD ? BoB would probably be my favorite arena, if it had the current flight models and game engine.

I applaud TF's efforts in updating the game, but I'm really interested to know, just what we can expect for the future, now that they have the source code ? Could the game engine be brought up to date so it looks and feels more like what we have in BoS /BoM/ BoK ?

BoS and CloDs flight models are different from ground on. CloD has static flight models while BoS has dynamic flight models (thats why they are so hard to make correct - many parts working together each with its own physics)

I think probably the biggest thing is they can now fix all of the glaring issues that the game originally had upon release, along with completing the unfinished stuff that never got done for the release.

Plus they are updating the game engine to DX11 for the next version - 4.5, and then a new map for 5.00. And hopefully VR support as well, though they have to go in and update many 2d models to 3d to make that happen.

The game has some great possibilities and if anyone can bring it to it's full potential TF certainly can especially with the source code. But yes it is a very different game from BoS, thankfully though they both compliment each other very nicely.

It is great to see this level of co-operation between 1CGS and TF, and certainly a great thing for us.

As for me, I will gladly continue to support both BoX and CLiffs ( especially if it eventually gets VR).

So last week I discovered that the new expansion would be Bodenplatte...After the crashing problems I had with Kuban I quit playing and went to CLOD for the last 9 months or so. I started up Kuban hoping the crashing problem would be fixed (it was) and hoping I could preorder a Pacific campaign. I suddenly discovered a bad case of indigestion as I read about this Bodenplatte campaign. Why would the BOX series compete with CLOD directly? Why would they back out of the Pacific? Maybe I'll head back to CLOD...two more weeks and we'll have F4F's and BOX can have their P51's and other Army Air Corp nonsense...I'm not bitter...

Diamon, I'm going to guess that you don't visit the forums too often. The reasons for the Pacific being delayed have been mentioned here too many time to tell you. We've talked about it ad nauseum.......

And really, they aren't competing with CLOD. Mustangs, P-38's, ME 262's? Where is the competition? Not sure what you mean by "two more weks and we'll have F4F"S...."

A lot of people, myself included, are excited about the new planes. I pre-ordered the first time I heard about it late last year. So what can we say? Be bitter and enjoy CLOD. It's a terrific sim, too. A favorite of mine.

I don't visit...I play CLOD and visit ATAG forums. TF6 would likely introduce the planes in question. While there may not be a presence of P51's P47's and P38's on CLOD, players may leave CLOD for BOB. That is the competition I'm worried about. My sulking isn't meant to be taken too seriously...at the same time I don't like a company promising one product then delivering another. I resurrected this post to point out that I bought Kuban partly to encourage their development of the Pacific theater.

EDIT: I'll go look into this delay on the Pacific expansion.

The explanation is right here on the forum in a pinned announcement, easy to see.

Nah. I still fly both. You can't fly over England in BOX...and most likely never will. I don't see them going there. And I don't think they'll ever do Mustangs and P-38's, either...for that specific reason of NOT competing with each other. And believe me, if anyone has left because of BOX, when Fusion's 5.0 comes out they'll be back in droves. I can't wait for that.

I'm confused. Battle of Bodenplatte has these mustangs and P38's right? TF would definitely eventually want these aircraft. I agree that BOX won't go to England anytime soon...or the Mediterranean for that matter.

I didn't think that the Team Fusion people had any intention of taking the war that far. Even if they did, it would be so far in the future, why even worry about it?

Oh, and what I meant to say, of course, was that I didn't think TF would ever do Mustangs and P-38's. Yes, Bodenplatte definately is going to have them. It looks great and I think you'll be missing out on some fun if you don't look into it.

TF has stated that after TF 5 Fw190's are the priority but P51's will also be in high demand. As for missing out on the fun.....no...I'll have tons of fun blowing the hell out of the P38's with my 110.

Team Fusion is, last I checked, angling for a North Africa scenario with tropical versions of the Spitfire V, Bf109F, etc. If they do happen to add a Mustang of some sort it'll be a P-51A or A-36 which would fit their theatre of operations. An early FW190, especially by 1943, would also fit their operations.

It's still quite a bit different than the P-51D and FW190A-8/D-9 that Bodenplatte is going to be focused on.

And Jason gave us a damn good reason for not being able to go straight with the plan that they had intended. They've been transparent and even warned us months before they publicly announced the delay and temporary change in direction. IMHO, there isn't much more they could possibly have done.

Well Said.

The Pacific will come. "IL2 Great Battles" could never be complete without it. And I for one would certainly not be disappointed if a few years down the line sometime after the pacific, should a decision be made to revisit the Battle of Britain, Africa, or pretty much any other theatre. The more theatres we eventually have in "IL2 Great Battles" the more complete and impressive a product it will turn out to be.
