kestrel79 Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Buying my first house, I'll finally have a dedicated room in the basement for my sim rig (Obutto Ozone 3 screen). No more taking up half the 2nd bedroom and creeping friends and family out when they stay over Maybe even do a WW2 Aviation theme as well. Looking for any websites that sell stuff, products, recommendations on cool stuff from your own sim rigs such as: - Quality rug to put my Obutto down on. Something that is durable and works good on cold basement floors - Place to buy aviation nose art/pinup girl art? - Those metal grate covers that go over lightbulbs usually found in submarines? I have a red light bulb I use at night when I'm simming, would be cool to have a cover for it. Any other cool sim/man cave accessories? 1

DD_Arthur Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Every man-cave should have one of these http://www.factorydirectmodels.com/custom-desktop-model/33-tall-nasa-saturn-v-rocket-model/ 1

CisTer-dB- Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 (edited) Congratulation on your house I have an Obutto you are gonna love it. I would replace the 3 screen monitor by 1 big TV 55" or 65" instead however, it's better for spoting, less trouble and more immersive http://www.strictlymancave.com/ Edited June 3, 2017 by ATAG_dB
kestrel79 Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 I've had my Obutto since 2010, but it's always been in a 2nd bedroom in an apartment. Not ideal as it takes up some room. Thinking about turning one of the bedrooms upstairs into the sim room for now and then down the road move it into the basement and create something really cool once we get all settled in. I really like the 3x27" screens for immersion. iRacing plays great and it feels like you are there at a proper fov. I usually run most of my flight sims on just one screen because I want high fps and my PC is getting pretty old, but down the road would love to go 3 screen in IL2 and DCS full time with a new gpu. I like those model planes very cool, thanks for the link!
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 How is 1 big monitor more immersive than 3 smaller ones.Would rather the wrap around FoV from 3 x 1440P Monitors with a 110-130* Angle than 1 big giant 100" TV flat infront of me

Would rather the wrap around FoV from 3 x 1440P Monitors with a 110-130* Angle than 1 big giant 100" TV flat infront of me Probably because it's live size, the proportions, the angles, everything. Yes you dont have the parallel view but we have low visual acuity over there anyways. I had both and it's night and day.
kestrel79 Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 Would like to get something like this down the road. Very pricey however. http://planejunkie.com/nose-art-panels/ The plane ceiling fans look cool too. As for rugs or carpet, others have suggested padded gym mats? Or horse pads? https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/rubber-mat-black-4-ft-x-6-ft?cm_vc=-10005 1
Yakdriver Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Aww Man!i am clearing one entire Bedroom to act as my Gaming/Aviation Room for the Future.Although i wish not to build a Simpit as such, the Theme sould be WWII Aviation.Keep the ideas flowing!
Retnek Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 For the bookshelf - maybe one of the two or three books between a complete (!) collection of Clint Eastwood films (at least all those directed by him), one book: "Real Men Don't Eat Quiche" by Bruce Feirstein

Warpig Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Some diecast planes wouldn't hurt. http://www.diecastairplane.com/store/c/113-Messerschmitt-Bf-109.html

Jade_Monkey Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Congrats! I'm in a very similar situation where we just bought a house and I'll get my own personal office (read Sim Cave). I'll keep an eye on this thread as well.
