So historically, the 111 has always been a level bomber unlike its counterpart the Ju-88 which can also conduct low-altitude ground attacks on columns and whatnot.  Has anyone tried doing the same with the 111?  I know this isn't something the 111 has historically done, but as sim pilots, we can be test pilots, create new tactics and implement them in MP.

So yeah, has anyone tried this and is this strategy recommended?  The H16 currently offers a loadout of 8x250s or 32x50s which both allow for great bombing runs on vehicle columns, however, its speed is its greatest downfall.

I started asking this question after watching I./StG77 HvB's video linked here.  He seems more of a team Junkers pilot, so I asked the question what about team Heinkel?  Can't Heinkel also perform this type of mission or is it generally recommended to remain as a high-altitude bomber?

... (low level bombing, strafing columns) I know this isn't something the 111 has historically done ...

It has been done with the He-111, often during the campaigns in Poland and France, decreasing in Russia because of the rising losses due to the intense and precise Russian AAA. Low level strafing, train busting, was the main reason to equip the He-111 with 20 mm cannons. The Do-17 was the preferred plane for low-level sorties early in war, but the He-111 did it too, frequently. There are some films showing rows of 50 kg bombs exploding to the left or right of overland-routes to disrupt the traffic without destroying the streets.
