InProgress Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I tried to google it but did not find much, is it really worth using? If i am not wrong it's some kind of fragmentation bomb, found old topic about it but still have some questions. Someone said that it could disable tank even if it's 30-50m away. It's even able to kill crew. Is that true? Also noticed on videos that stuka mostly used these and 250kg on ships, does it have some better damage in game against ships? Also not sure if game makes it, but does setting delay while bombing ships or buildings actually makes more damage to them? Is it possible to drop 250kg and 4x 70kg at once? On footages I have seen stukas doing that but in game it does not work for me. I can set to drop underbelly or uderwing but I can drop 500 and 2x 250 at once. And last thing, I noticed that bombs exploding in water do damage and destroy ships (or maybe some bombs hit and some missed and I did not noticed) but on real footage I saw bombs exploding near ship and I did not see any visual damage.
Finkeren Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 An SD70 won't even scratch a tank at 30-50m. Not even a 500kg bomb should expect to do much against a tank at that distance. For bombs below 250kg it pretty much takes a direct hit to outright destroy a tank. It's not pefectly realistic, but close enough.
InProgress Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 (edited) Info i found about sd70, it was for humans, light vehicles and airplanes parked on airfield. It had around 1400 shards 13g heavy. I guess it could destroy all these vehicles easly (not blow up tho). Not sure about range but it only says that it had 1 shard per 1m^2 on 30-35m. But i guess we cant kill crews, few days ago i was shooting at arty gun with ju87 mg, i was so close that i could see crew and bullets hitting them but it did nothing. Found nice article about german bombs, for example sc500 were for stone bridges. So these sd70 actually have fragmentation that destroys light vehicles and "kill" crew of stationary guns? (In game) And is it any use against ships? Was sd70 used in real life against ships? Kind of hard to imagine small fragmentation bomb to do serious harm against ship. [CPT]milopugdog Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 The SD70 CAN be used on the smaller boats if you can hit them. My main use for them are artillery, dugouts, and unarmored vehicles though. So They're kinda like machine guns? Only with a explosion. 1
=EXPEND=Dendro Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I think the crew run away if you hit near them with mg fire. If I remember it was to simulate the idea that the gun could be re-crewed after a few minutes if it was not destroyed completely. I don't think there is any animation of crew dying? 1
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 I tried out the SD70 cluster for the first time in quick missions, they proved great for attacking trains, if you choose a straight stretch of track and approach the train head on and release at the right point, apart from the Loco which struggled on alone before exploding i destroyed the whole Train [AA included] in a single pass. When flying the IL-2 mod 1943 i did notice that when firing the MG/Cannon the convergence point does not align with the centre of the ring sight, ? Cheers

=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Bombs go booooom They run away after their gun is critically damaged They run away when suppressed and often if the gun is not still taken out they later run back and shoot you in back while flying away..Never leave the gun standing always kill the gun ignore the crew.
