Blenheim Event 17th June 2000UTC ATAG Axis V Allies

Hello,

A few weeks age we organised a "event" to gather pilots wishing to fly bombers. The idea was to simply run the event in the regular Axis V Allies server and have experienced bomber pilots fly with those perhaps new to the aircraft type in a massed formation. By all accounts its was well received and we had full server with a formation of I think 23 88s and some 15 or so 109 close escorts.

Another event is planned for the above date and I thought id let you know about it. There is no rota - first come first served.

You can find the link to the ATAG forum thread here :

Below is basically what has been posted on the ATAG site so far:

We are doing a lot of work to give the Blennies the best chance of at least making it to the target and are developing at least one plan for each server mission.

Here are some other things for those wishing to fly on the night to consider.

BLENHEIMS

If you are thinking of flying a bomber on the night I urge you to get a few hours in it and make sure you can:

  • Start and roll out quickly
  • Manage the engines in a climb and at altitude
  • Adjust the Alt, Speed and Slip on the Bombsight
  • Understand and use the auto pilot and adjust course using the Directional Giro adjustment

As before we cannot say for definite what the type of bombing will be until we see the map but if it comes to level bombing we will have an experienced lead who will be able to advise us on the settings to input into the sight.

If you can set controls to use the turret, do so.

As well as taking Blenni bombers I thought it would also be fun to have a few Blenni Fighters in the mix too. If this appeals to anyone please PM me so I can put a list together. There will only be a few so if any selection is needed it will be done on experience in using it as a fighter rather than inexperience of using it as a bomber if you know what I mean.

RED FIGHTERS

If anyone wants to take an active fighter role we would welcome it. I will see if I can get a fighter channel set up if its needed. Those of you who like to fly in squads or groups are likely to be given specific duties if you are up for it. The raid really will depend on fighter co-operation so again, if you think your group or squad would like to take an active part, please PM me and we can discuss how best to employ.

BLUE FIGHTERS

Bring it on! - no quarter asked - none given. Seriously, I really hope that the blues can put on the defensive show equal to the red's last effort.

TIMINGS

We will start roistering at 1930 UTC (2030 London Time) on the "Boomers Casual" channel in the ATAG TS (at the top of the squad list). Hopefully we will be blessed with a server mission start at 2000 UTC (2100 London Time).

I Hope to see you there!!

Regards

I will try to be there, if I can manage to fire up the game. And see if I can manage its engine. My biggest problem with the blenheim is the fact that I have no idea how the compass on English aircraft work
