Royal_Flight Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 I've played hundreds of hours of Sniper Elite V2. Not a sim either but I enjoy it quite a lot. I found Silent Hunter on sale a while ago on Steam and really enjoy it. For an older game it is very good graphics wise. The rolling seas are very well done. The FX of sinking ships is incredible as are the little rowboats with survivors bobbing on the waves. I truly hope when the Pacific come to the IL2 world someday that it can mimic some of this. Thinking of getting Silent Hunter, I played one of them when I was younger and enjoyed it so I might try again. Which version would you recommend? I also remember that when SH V was released it was unfinished and full of bugs, has that been mostly sorted now or is it still pretty much broken?

SH5 is awesome, but only with Wolves of Steel mod. Worth playing. 1
Royal_Flight Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Ah, I've got the steam version. Is there an easy way to get it to work that you know of? Disappointing, I'd rather like to give it a shot but it looks like I won't be able to.

Legioneod Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 I play a good bit of simulators but mostly for flying. American/Euro Truck Simulator really enjoy driving trucks but I wish the shifting was more realistic. I'm actually about to get my CDL and drive tanker trucks for the company I work for. X-Plane 11 havent actually played it yet but I've heard great things about it. I just hope they add more prop and older aircraft like the Constellation or the DC4 etc. Also thought it would be a good sim to train in a bit, I plan on getting my PPL once I get the money for training. FSW Got it on sale, pretty nice so far but it needs work. DCS Silent Hinter series SH 4 is by far my favorite in the series. Kerbal Space Program I know its not much of a simulator but I really enjoy building up my ships and figuring out orbits, interceptions, communication, etc.
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Children of a Dead Earth is nice if you're interested in space warfare with realistic physics and mostly believable technology.
Royal_Flight Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Couldn't puzzle out SHV but in fairness I didn't have long with it. I'll try again in a bit. Back to topic... has anyone tried Command: Modern Naval/Air Tactics? It's really a strategy game but I reckon it could be included here as it's got a broad enough scope that it's almost a battlespace management / C2 simulator. And just as rewarding to get it right when you pull of a well-executed plan as BoX is.

robertmanziel Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Can Need For Speed be counted as a sim?
=FSB=Man-Yac Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I am a massive silent hunter fan. Its a shame they are not making anymore. The drawback with sub games in particular is that there is no room for multiplayer, besides a few wolfpacks scenarios
Nibbio Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) Love naval games, the ones I'm really enjoying now are Cold Waters (excellent remake of Red Storm Rising) and Sailaway (brilliant sailing simulator, the whole world is modeled with real time weather, online races are the best) Edited January 29, 2018 by Nibbio
kestrel79 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 You'd think a Sub Sim could have pretty cool co-op. 6 people all in the same sub. Couple people driving/navigating, couple people figuring out firing solutions. Everyone on comms working together sounds pretty cool to take out ships who are also crewed by people.
Jade_Monkey Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Anyone excited about "Kingdom Come: Deliverance"? Definitely not a simulator, but it will try to be realistic and historically accurate.
Nibbio Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Anyone excited about "Kingdom Come: Deliverance"? Definitely not a simulator, but it will try to be realistic and historically accurate. of course not 13 days : 14 hours : 41 minutes : 44 seconds
Jade_Monkey Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I'm honestly not even that excited about the combat or quests as much as i am about the scenery. The monastery paintings, the buildings, the small details. Even the forest in the demo is completely breathtaking.
Herne Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I saw some of the early work for kingdom come, and it looks interesting. Probably will not be a day one purchase for me though. Mount and blade 2 though, would be a different story. Aren't they both from the same dev studio ?
Jade_Monkey Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Not the same studio, but yeah, M&B2 will also be a ton of fun.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 (edited) Apart from IL2 BoX. - Aerowinx PSX - ELITE IFR - Condorsoaring - XP11 and DCS sometimes, but interest in DCS has substantially decreased since I embraced IL2 as my preferred ww2 prop aircraft sim :-) I never played other than flightsims, since circa 1990, starting with BAO Flight sims, although I had used, in the early 80s, some flightsims in the Sinclair and Amiga :-) Edited January 31, 2018 by jcomm-in-combat
