MrNoice Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Hello Guys, I have a problem with my game.... In the Distance there is a extremly bright haze.... even with lowest Gamma and Brightness the result is that its nearly impossible to spot enemies a few kilometers away... thx and greetings MrFies
Finkeren Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 The haze shouldn't make spotting harder, in fact it is probably the easiest background to spot against. 1
Blutaar Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 It is normal and some people thinking that it is just like as it is in real life, i dont think so but it comes from people who fly in real life so my opinion dosent count. For spotting contacts, we just have a 10km visibility sphere around our plane so its not the haze that hides other planes. If you mean a really bad weather condition pls forget what i just said.
ShamrockOneFive Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Most days where I live, both summer and winter there is so much humidity that its rare to have great visibility out to the horizon. This looks like that kind of day and they are frequent. There are times where it clears up but the game engine isn't set to do that kind of rendering right now.
Finkeren Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 The horizon aside, there is still a conversation to be had about increasing draw distance of objects like planes and vehicles. 16-18km would be a happy compromise, but 10km is just too little for the speeds we're dealing with here.
MrNoice Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 @ShamrockOneFive, yes and on summer settings even worse its extremly bad and I feel like in a small cage ^^ and its so bright that the russian crosshair is fairley litte visible.
MrNoice Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 By the way.. its unrealistic and I guess its ONLY for increased performance nothing else first in every other flight sim like IL-2 CLOD or DCS you can see miles at a certian altitude ... and I flown multiple times with planes and choppers in reallife and with good weather you can also see extremly far ... I hope they will change it. the should increase the render distance at all imo..
Finkeren Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 What you're describing sounds excessive. Care to post a screenshot of what it looks like?

Enjoy the show.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Just install Reshade. Then can spot runways from 40km @ 2.5KPlanes and all 3d objects still limited to 9.95km bubble
dburne Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 It undoubtedly is a tradeoff for performance reasons, but I will say BoX runs so dang good for me, especially in VR, I will take that over seeing things 40 km away anyday.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Like i said install RESHADE..The pic below was a setting i used a little while back, note this will not look 100% right as its a low quality screenshot and setup for my monitor and eyes :D 2
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 The white strip across the horizon is overdone but indeed sth that can be seen in reality (when humidity is low and sunlight intense). I have some photos that show a similar horizon appearance to that in IL-2 but it's no doubt overdone ingame for technical reasons. Hopefully this and the too limited object view ranges an be solved in future. 1

XQ_Lothar29 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 For me, the best SweetFX settings is created for 5tuka

SAG Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 please give us your game and reshade settings! :D That looks gorgeus!
TG-55Panthercules Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 For me, the best SweetFX settings is created for 5tuka Do old SweetFX settings work well with this newer/latest version of ReShade, or do you need to get settings created specifically for this newer version?
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Ingame just set to Minimum Gamma 0.8Then i use following preset (in summer maps i set Exposure back to normal)Note this is not entire preset just the settings for 3 primary shaders i use, But you can just add those 3 shaders to your reshade then overwrite those settings in file with these.SMAA (much higher quality than ingame MSAA, Not needed @ 4K or on VR)Tonemap (to reduce gamma more and in winter Exposure (winter = -0.222 exposure)Vibrance (To Dynamically increase Colour Saturation as seen in pics and to increase green and blue channels slightly) [Vibrance.fx] Vibrance=0.750000 VibranceRGBBalance=1.000000,1.125000,1.125000 [SMAA.fx] EdgeDetectionType=0.000000 EdgeDetectionThreshold=0.005000 MaxSearchSteps=96.000000 Coefficients=0.210000,0.720000,0.070000 MaxSearchStepsDiagonal=16.000000 ColorSaturation=0.000000 CornerRounding=0.000000 DebugOutput=0.000000 [Tonemap.fx] Defog=0.000000 Bleach=0.000000 Gamma=1.100000 Exposure=-0.220000 Saturation=0.000000 FogColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 (edited) can you please give me your reshade 3 profile ? ;D thx If you referr to my post nice sun glasses with 65% tone are my settings for real flying. Haven't tried Reshade 3.0+ yet and just recently begun messing with 1.1.0 again due to the great shader changes with the Dx11 update that changed the appearance of my presets to my dissatisfaction. Might give 3.0 a try. Edit: Here's a real (unedited) shot for comparison. You can clearly see the horizon becoming brighter towards the sun. Edited May 31, 2017 by 6./ZG26_5tuka
216th_Jordan Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 The haze/brightness has become very little after a spyder5 Display calibration. Normal screens are incredibly bright by default. Of course it would be nice if there could be hazeless days also. It was mentioned though that a no haze setting would be impossible due to missing earth curvature.
