I recently re-installed the game and when I searched for ReShade I found 3.07 which installs in seconds and is very easy to use.  Makes a big difference in how the game looks so I recommend giving it a try. Very good tutorials on You Tube including this one:

I'm using it. Imo, it looks much saturated, warm and less grey-ish. I'm using the preset that someone posted before but I couldn't find it. PS:Just found it:https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/17096-reshade-sweetfx/page-1?hl=reshade

For those who's interested, you could dig some info from this link: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12501-you-also-think-bos-beautiful-how-about-making-it-absolutly-g/page-6?do=findComment&comment=239583

I'm just dumb...how do you designate the game you wish to modify in the first screen? Of course I've pointed to the main game folder , but that doesn't seem to work. :mellow:

You need to point it to the .exe which I believe is in the bin folder. Just dig a few folders deeper and you should find it pretty easily. Not at home at the moment or I'd look it up myself.

You can easily tone down the saturation.  I tried to save and post some before and after pics but the effects don't show up for some reason.

Can someone pls share their profile?

This seems to have a lot of potentials.

I love to get sharper and higher contrast graphic for vr.

Thanks I thought it might be as you suggest , but didn't want to screw things up if it wasn't.... :salute:

Does Reshade give any in-game performance hit?

Not really. On my system - which is pretty average - approx. 2 - 3fps.

Thanks. I may give it a try on my Vive.

On second thoughts, this doesn't look to be working in VR, at least in Direct Mode.

Does it give any in game advantage in terms of spotting?

You can increase the sharpness of images and increase the contrast with this tool. This makes seeing long range contacts a bit easier. If you tune it right spotting targets at mid range against the ground can be a bit easier too, at least that is my experience.

I get a failed install every time. It's in the game, but empty of options and gives me an error message.

Oh well... :(

I had that problem for a bit when I was trying to use this with RoF, but eventually I figured out how to get it working.

I use JSGME to activate this, rather than install it directly into BoS - you can D/L my JSGME-ready package here if you'd like to give it a try:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/0l17t1j9ekm59d9/Panther%27s_Reshade_3.0.7_for_BoS_for_JSGME.zip

WARNING - if you do not have BoS installed in F:\games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad, you will need to edit one of the files in this package to point ReShade to the right folders in your game installation.  After you have unzipped the package into your MODS folder, open the dxgi.ini file with a text editor and change the following lines to reflect where you installed BoS:

[GENERAL]
EffectSearchPaths=F:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game,F:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\reshade-shaders\Shaders
TextureSearchPaths=F:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game,F:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\reshade-shaders\Textures
PerformanceMode=0
ScreenshotPath=F:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game
PreprocessorDefinitions=RESHADE_DEPTH_LINEARIZATION_FAR_PLANE=1000.0,RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_UPSIDE_DOWN=0,RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED=0,RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_LOGARITHMIC=0
TutorialProgress=4
PresetFiles=F:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\IL-2 BoS Winter.ini

Like anything else, although things have gone very smoothly for me with this in both BoS and RoF, you may want to back up your copy of BoS before messing around with this just in case.  (And you should get rid of any traces of your previous failed installation attempts in your BoS folders before activating my JSGME package - you can look at what files are in my package to get an idea of what old files you're looking to get rid of).

Have it properly installed , I think & its  folders show up in "game's "Bin" Folder when install is paired with the exe ., but it doesn't show up in game play , even when I push Alt rt  F2 ( which I previously had programmed as a camera view of friendly planes) I've re-watched the tutorial several times & cannot figure which step I must have missed.The readme doesn't help much either... :huh:

Hmmm - why "Alt rt  F2" instead of Shift+F2 ?  The latter is what works with my installation (not sure if that's the default or if I changed it to that, but if I had changed it I think I would have picked something that wasn't already assigned to camera views so I'm thinking that may have been the default).

Also, do you see the text overlay in the upper left corner as the game is loading in (while it sits there and loads in all the selected effects)?  If not, it's probably not installed correctly (and that text overlay tells you which key(s) to use to open up the configuration panel from within the game).

Btw. You can change Shift+F2 for any other combinations, I use also Scrool Lock to turn on/off preset.

All are in the settings.

Here's what's not happening: I'm not getting a text overlay at the beginning of the game.I have freed up keystroke Lft Shift F2 to see if I could activate the function.If I punch it I get the externak view of my plane ( F2 is the assigned key for this view.) That's it - no functioning version seems to be there...

If you're not getting the text overlay when the game starts up then I'm thinking that's a pretty good sign that something went wrong with the installation process.  Have you tried the JSGME-ready package I linked to in one of my posts above?  Might be worth a shot - if you unzip it properly into your MODS folder, JSGME should put everything you need in the right place so it should work for you.

After looking at the install for a while I decided to unpack the "shaders-reshaders" folder & drop the two folders within the main" Bin /Game "folder & voila it shows up in the game! i haven't tried anything yet, but I am looking forward to seeing what happens next!

I don't use it personally, but I am pretty sure it works. You just have to make sure when you set it up, that you set it up for DX9 in CLoD, until TFS 4.5 DX11 patch release anyway. Then it will have to be switched to DX11.

Works on 90% of games that use D3DX9, D3DX10, D3DX10.1 & D3DX11.

i was going to post some before/after pics but the images are too large.  Do you know how to save in smaller size

Oddly I can get it to work on my Steam Bos install & have been able to play with it a bit,but it hasn't taken to my initial non Steam Bos install of CloD....perhaps I need to tick the right box of the three when initially installing it in these? If so which one? Thanks! :salute:

Later today

After a bit of experimenting  have it working in both BoS versions ! Install in CloD seems a bit slower but nevertheless it is there & apparently will operate,but I haven't tried it yet...Thanks again for this tip & vid! ;)

Update:

This is up & running & its choices are vast .I confess to not knowing what many of the choices are or do, but I can see they must offer a lot in the way of fine tuning.

I have really only two questions.

1.) My only real problem with BoS & BoM is being almost snow blind at certain times of the day.This makes landings paricularily difficult,so I wonder if someone has figured out how to increase the definition in snow and has settings that solve this issue? If so what are they?

2.) I have played with color ( esp.technicolor saturation) but now wonder if there is an easy way to go back to "default" settings just to check which I prefer or should modify a bit?

3.) Is there only a one setting at a time factor to this mod or can I do 2 or more different settings ,say one for Winter & one for Summer. I can't figure how to get back to the start screen where I first set up the settings I'mm playing with and named rather unimaginatively " 111". :salute:

Panthercules, I need your help...

Unzipped JSGME V.2.6 in my Battle of Stalingrad folder...

Unzipped your "Panthers Reshade etc" into the MODS folder.

Drilled down thru bin, game, to the dxgi as you instructed above and edited it to follow the path. (Mine is   I:/BoS/IL2 Battle of Stalingrad)

Started JSGME and activated "Panthers Reshade....

Started BoS and..... nothing....

Must have done something fundamentally wrong.. can you or someone else  help?

Thanks

Hard to say - just checked mine again and everything worked fine.  A few things spring to mind: (1) recheck how the package unzipped into your MODS folder and make sure you didn't wind up with an extra folder somehow.  (2)  recheck the edits you made to the dxgi.ini file to make sure you made the path change in all the places needed.  (2) check the file name of dxgi.ini and make sure your text editor didn't add a .txt extension to it or something when you made the changes and resaved it.
