So, I spent last night and this morning getting everything mapped in BoX for the Warthog. My one question, has anyone modified their stick to compensate for the force needed to move it? If I keep using it this way my right hand grip will be as good as it was when I was a teenager...

Seems like an extension would fit the bill, but I'm curious if anyone was successful in modifying the spring set-up. I've seen all the videos and "how-tos" on the net but wanted some feedback from forum members here. Thanks!

An extension does do wonders. I am using only a 7.5cm extension and it made a world of difference for me.

Are several extensions options around - all basically a aluminum tube with thread. The most affordable is from VirPil and MFG.

Try a extension before mess with remove springs, gimbal re-grease... some people already destroy parts done this.

The real solution is use better gimbal (base) for that grip, e.g. Baur, VKB, VirPil.

Thanks for the info! Will probably go with an extension, just have to decide if I want to make it myself, or get an off-the-shelf version.

Myself I just attached mine to a heavy box overwhich go my legs. It does need to be between your legs at the right height as on a table or off to the side of you is a real no go after a while! But where theres a will theres a way, just find a way to attach it to something very heavy!

Interesting. Mine is currently off to the right sitting on a base that fits over an open desk drawer. Will rig up something to try it between the legs to see if it is much different. Thanks!

by far these metal gimbals are far superior to the plastic warthog.. I have seen pictures for the wiring harness being threaded through the plastic ball cup of the warthog gimbal.. far stupid set up; I sold my warthog and have the MKII Pro VKB and its a awesome stick...I'm waiting for the MCGPro, and it's easy to just swap out the grips a much better idea of swapping out grips instead of a whole base and stick. great job VKB.. Metal gimbals all the way!!!!

Well to be fair there is no threading the wiring harness through the plastic ball cup for simply adding an extension - that is more for taking the gimbal apart to do a grease job, which I have never had to do on mine ( got lucky with mine on that I guess).

The Warthog grip comes off easily and installs easily, adding my extension took me about 5 min. In fact it comes off easier than the VKB grip which requires a screw mechanism, at least the Gunfighter does.

Just wanted to clarify so those considering an extension for the Warthog were aware.

Alright! Received my 10 cm extension in the mail today. Simple installation and it makes a world of difference! Smoother control and no wearing out the muscles yanking it around without the extension. Well worth the investment.  Just took a few minutes to get used to the distance now required for full movement of the stick. Thanks to everyone for their advice.

on the X-55 i am running the weakest spring (RED)
Also how you hold the stick matter (you dont have to man handle the entire hand grip)

Often for me 2 fingers on stick is enough.

Often for me 2 fingers (...) is enough.

I tends to be the case for me too. No complaints so far.
