BOS and ROF rain/thunderstorms

Hey Pat,

 

First, I have to let you know how much I love your generator. Damn impressive. Especially as a native java application.

 

Not sure how much you hang on ROF forums anymore so I figured I'd get a hold of you here. I am actually mostly playing ROF but I seem to be having trouble with BOS too. I've searched up and down ROF and BOS forums about the weather config settings, tried every piece of advice I found, but I have not been able to get a single thunderstorm or even rain to generate. I followed the advice here: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/19061-advanced-config/?p=30050 and tried every combination I can think of but I never get more than a little fog. I have even tried to force generation by setting every other weather condition to zero and thunderstorms or rain to 100 but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Any advice for me? Maybe I am doing something wrong.

If you know how to open the ROF Mission Editor then just open your PWCG mission in the editor and change the weather there and save the mission and play it. Kind of a

pain in the but, but i think it should work.

This is something I have wondered about. There are varying odds of certain types of weather but I have never had a mission where it was a actually raining or snowing. I've seen every cloud cover imaginable, day, night and everything in between but never rain or snow. If there is a way I would love to know how.

According to the CONFIG file Battle of IL2Stalingrad/PWCGCampaign/BOSData/Input/PWCGCampaign there is no rain, snow or thunderstorm in BOS, but  rain and thunderstorm should be in ROF. Try to set it in the CONFIG file for ROF, maybe it then works.

Weather works very differently between RoF and BoS.  I looked at the code around weather designations and all I can say is that it needs a bit of work.
