Hey guys, I'm stuck on which direction to go with a new monitor setup. I currently use the htc vive and track ir, sometimes I flip back and forth on the two. So my question is should I get a triple monitor setup with 1080p monitors or 1 decent sized 4K monitor. I use a gtx 1080ti graphics card so I know the rig can handle either setup pretty well. Just wanted some opinions and feedback and what y'all would do or have done already. As far as I know you can realistically only do a triple monitor setup on 1080p monitors and still keep good frame rates, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

Get a good 4k monitor, BoX looks stunning with it. I have a 34 inch 3440p display and I love it.

I have a 4k monitor and I love it. Not touched it with il2 since the VR update. Given a choice of playing through a window, or sitting inside the cockpit, then I will take the cockpit every time

Ya I switch back and forth for the immersion and then sometimes I just like getting the full detail of graphics thrown at me. But I was also thinking about other games that I play and how they might look on 4K vs triple screen....4K just seems like it would have better eye candy

Love my 27" 4K IPS panel, but I can't call it the "best" setup - too many variables and preferences.

For my varied needs it was the best way to go.

If you're also a twitch FPS gamer you might want a 144hz 1440p panel instead.

I'm not, and also do content creation so I chose color rendition and resolution over higher frequency.

IPS is a must for me too. The colors are so great.

I've had a triple screen setup, and the level of support in games varies. OK in DCS and Elite Dangerous, functional in this game. By "functional", I mean there are bugs with the UI, ground texture quality and sun glare effect. Nothing that prevents using the game, but they affected my enjoyment significantly.

I have a 1440p monitor and I can recommend it over triple-screen 1080p.

Thanks for that link! What do y'all think about getting a curved monitor? Didn't think much of those for use as a tv, but as a computer monitor that's right in your face, I wonder if that works better

Triple monitor is a complete waste in my opinion if you are not planning on using them for anything else.

Definitely go for the 4K, or an ultrawide if you like the idea.

Curvature is so subtle that do not distort image or distract eye.

i highly recommend this:

but there are new ones in line ...

Yes, go with the biggest 21:9 Ultrawide you can afford. Tripples are only good for the few racing simulations that support them, they are garbage in everything else and have massive distortion on the side monitors if the camera viewport is not split up for each screen.

I had 3 monitor set up horizontally.

I had to fight the bad UI (bombing view not possible).

I read here a recoomendation for triple vertical set up so i did.

It was a night and day. Faster frame rate, i can see the cockpit gauges, better aim, fully covered eye view. And UI was fixed.

I went to vr and never looked back however. I do miss the nice graphic though on monitor.

If u go triple, definitely go vertical.

While Jade and I see eye to eye on many things...I would say Triple screen 4K setup is absolutely amazing(I do play Assetto Corsa and other games as well too his point).  I have 40inch screens and I could imagine 50+ would still look amazing in 4K...I sit in mine like a cockpit with screens at almost 90degrees in a I_I shape.  Jason had mentioned if resources allowed, fixing/giving the game proper Triple screen support I assume would fix the aspect ratio on bomb-sight ect. in game.  Hopefully adapting Nvidia's new triple screen tech would look awesome...(I believe it would be like 3 screen mode in DCS where you can adjust the image depending on angle/size of your monitors but much more versatile. <---I could be wrong about that?)

All that being said I fly with my Pimax vr also alot of the time so I am torn which is better...?
