Y29.Layin_Scunion Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 I don't know, it seems kind of crass to use a day of remembrance as a business opportunity. I was parachute infantry in the army and went overseas twice. I've had multiple friends perish. Point being when I see "Memorial Day Sale!!!" at car dealerships and what not, I can only conjure disgust. 3
J5_HellCat_ Posted May 26, 2017 Author Posted May 26, 2017 (edited) I'm from a very military family and it's the people who forget what Memorial Day is that irritate me rather than the sales. Memorial Day is not about all military personnel. That is Veterans Day. It is about remembering the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice. As long as time is taken to pay tribute to those men and women at some point during the weekend I have no issue. Stores have sales for every thing possible. Especially the long weekend before summer. People will shop no matter what, doesn't bother me as long as it's not disrespectful. I have asked this question of people in my family that have served and lost friends and they don't find it offensive. Its just a sale to them. But I do see your points and they are well taken ....
