Microsoft FFB gen 1 (gameport version). Can it be made to work?

I found a dusty old Microsoft FFB, version 1 in my garage.  Forgot I still had one of these from my youth..  

It's the old gameport variety.  I don't even have a gameport input on my PC anymore!

 

Has anyone actually made this stick work with BoS?   Or should I just ebay it?

 

I would love to try FFB in IL2, but maybe this is a poor starting point?

Something like this must be worth a try? I use the second gen FFB and really like it, don't think I could use a non FFB stick. You can actually feel a stall coming on and correct it.

Yes i have it working with special made converter (game port to usb) which allow force feedback  effects to work.
