Mission was completed, but not completed?

I did a bombing raid in a PE-2 in the Moscow Campaign. I dropped bombs over the target enemy airstrip. It then said mission complete. I returned to base, landed, clicked <escape>, but it said the mission was still in progress. I drove around the airstrip just in case I needed to trigger some waypoint. Nothing. I quit the mission and failed with 0 experience points. What could be the problem?

The same happened to me yesterday due to "connection lost to the authenticating server". Maybe the same issue as yours.

Is that a problem with their servers? Maybe next time I'll leave the game open, running in the background until it establishes a re-connection. My own connection to the internet is usually solid.

Leaving the game open may work, or not, who knows?

You didn't reach the exit point.

You don't need the exit point, when you land on your base.

Just to clarify, I run a short mission, shot down two bombers (one was required), reached the exit point, tried to exit, but the mission was orange (still in progress), then headed home and successfully landed, but the mission was still not finished. Then exited anyway and got the message that connection was lost to the authenticating server. My profile was also unavailable. Exited the game and restarted, but connection to the server could not be reestablished for several minutes. Checked my net connection: it was fine and uninterrupted. Seemingly the same happened, at the same time, to scarletscala, and a server problem was confirmed for that period of time by Han. S..t happens.
