AndyJWest Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Entertainment wise, I mean. I'm still Eurotrucking. Got myself a 750 hp Volvo. Perfect for autobahns and the long straight roads of eastern Europe. And on the subject of eastern Europe, A couple of features I spotted in Hungary, just south of the Polish border: So what is it for you? Other flight sims? Other PC games? Or maybe you've got another hobby entirely. How about a photo/screenshot or two? 2
=LD=Hethwill Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 1/48 Lagg 3 model and crew diorama project & regarding digital entertainment going through full Antietam scenario on Scourge of War with the Federal army.
Blooddawn1942 Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Mainly other flightsims of course. RoF most of my PC time. DCS is always welcome too. Besides flightsims I just started State of Decay...kind of entertaining. And not to forget about ArmA3.. For the rest of my sparetime...family matters. Lots of reading, and some plasticmodel construction. Tanks and WWI aircrafts. WH 40000...
Krupi Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Now that my cockpit is setup I am back to flying the DCS World P-51. Second fight I managed to take out the P-51
FlatSpinMan Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Just fired up RoF again today and did a couple of missions as I finally have some time. Bagged two balloons, got lost, nosed over in one landing. A successful day in WW1. I must say that playing around with graphics settings in BoS has helped me make RoF run much better. Big fan of that 'sharpness' option. I'm also reading 'Anna Karenina' (still - there's just so much plot!) and have just finished "Brave new world". I thought I'd read it years ago but it seems I hadn't finished it. It's a great book, remarkably prescient given it was published in 1932.
Guest deleted@1562 Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I'm playing Nino-Ku-Ni and WRC4 with a Fanatec wheel on the PS3.
Feathered_IV Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Learning how to work with textures for map making in Il-2. Got a Malta map in the works. 1
FlatSpinMan Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 You've got amazing detail and variety in those Malta textures, FIV.
BSS_Mudcat Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Dealing with a serious case of buyers remorse with some tullamore dew in this mornings coffee. Other than that, probably some RoF or CloD, staring at the WT forums hoping something there magically changes... Deciding which model I won't finish first, Twin Mustang, SBD or F4U 1
BSS_Mudcat Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I went with the F4U, this is about as far as I'll get
Feathered_IV Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Looks pretty good. Hey thanks Bongo. You've flown over the island (I think I recall you mentioning it) are the colours about right to you? My colour vision is rubbish, and it's hard to tell whether I'm on the right track or not.
DD_bongodriver Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Never flown to Malta but have transited the Med lots, and for the most part all the islands look like little bits of Spain, the colours you have seem quite good, on the right track definitely.
Hunziker Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Planning a long overdue pilgrimage to some special places in my city to get some pics. Especially as I drive down most of them everyday.... I'm sure peeps can guess where I'm from.
Trooper117 Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Playing IL2 1946, currently flying the Fokker DXXI in 1940 against the invading Germans... 'Illusions, Incidents and Invasions' Lovely little plane to fly, and not my usual mount... highly enjoyable!
SYN_Lt_Dan Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Il2 1946 with HSFX 7 dam that A.I has got good !
thx1138 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 So what is it for you? Other flight sims? Other PC games? Or maybe you've got another hobby entirely. How about a photo/screenshot or two? Dealing with the aftermath of an ice storm. Not that bad really except for a mildly sick horse, he is better now but I missed this weeks early access...
Feathered_IV Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Never flown to Malta but have transited the Med lots, and for the most part all the islands look like little bits of Spain, the colours you have seem quite good, on the right track definitely. That's very encouraging. Thanks!
rolikiraly Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 And on the subject of eastern Europe, A couple of features I spotted in Hungary, just south of the Polish border: ? You might want to check your map
=FI=Macca Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Skyrim, Il2 46, maybe some Combat Mission. Yeah, I'm curious what map is Andy using as we haven't got a border with Hungary
AndyJWest Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 You might want to check your map Er, yes - I realised afterwards that I'd got it wrong. Make that 'Slovakia, just south of the Polish border'. I think...
AndyJWest Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Unable to defeat the old enemy by use of force, the Poles resort to psychological warfare: The description says it is a 12-tonne ventilation tube, but I'm not convinced... 2
TyphoonOneB Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Red Orchestra 2, a bloody amazing game which is overlooked by many people. Finally got around to downloading the Team Fusion patch for Cliffs of Dover and playing it a fair amount. But my computer still juust doesn't cut it and I'm bored/frustrated again. So I endlessly wait for my early access
AndyJWest Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 andy do you use the radio for music ingame? which channel do you usually listen to? I've not bothered with the radio - I need as few distractions as possible. Too liable to wander out of lane otherwise. Using a gamepad to steer probably doesn't help. Another load: big - heavy and awkward. A 25-tonne excavator from Dover to Linz. Ferry time... Other than a slight incident climbing up the ramp out of Calais dock (I had to stop for traffic at the top, at which point the load pulled me backwards...), and a minor scrape on the armco, it all went well.
FlatSpinMan Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Still reading the eternal Anna Karenina as a back up book, but mainly reading "Forgotten Soldier", by Guy Saner, and a guide to writing screenplays, by Filmcrit Hulk. I have no intention of writing a screenplay, but Filmcrit Hulk is excellent on how stories and characters work, and he relates everything to well-known films. It's really interesting, as is his blog at Bad Ass Digest. Also doing a bit of cooking now that I am getting home from work early. I made a very passable attempt at a Thai dish today. ,
Zwoop Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I "found" Skyrim just three weeks ago! 100+ hours for now... Fantastic game and fantastic mods!
Krupi Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) Honing my DCS dogfighting skills... I have brought the AI down a few times now... but this was by far the best dogfight the AI seems to constantly change there tactics with every new mission. Edited December 19, 2013 by Krupi 1
Emgy Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Most(all?) DCS modules are on ~60% discount now btw.
Feathered_IV Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks for the news. I bought the mustang in the last sale and afterwards immediately realised I'd rather have bought the Huey.
AndyJWest Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 Thanks to the generosity of cichlidfan over at the DCS forum, I'm now the proud owner of a Huey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmjHpmDc0I4 Needs practice...
