Ground units and ground icons dissapearing

Really frustrating.

 

Ground units and ground units icons are invisible in cockpit and pop in and out of visibility when in external, often vanishing at close range.  Bombs from my aircraft disappear after leaving the aircraft and no explosion graphic although I hear the noise of them exploding.  Oddly enough the train engine and icon is always visible, in and out of cockpit, but the carriages aren't.

 

It makes any kind of ground pounding a waste of time.

 

Playing in VR with a GTX 970 and have tried three different GPU drivers and even clean installed the last one rather than just update, but still the problem persists both in Quick mission and Campaign. 

 

Aircraft and respective icons work perfectly.
