I shot someone's parachute once, and they got all butt hurt and telling me how it goes against the Geneva Conventions.

Which was made in 1949, this being a "Simulator" such thing doesn't exist yet.

But people need to realize...

ITS JUST A GAME

People do get upset about that. I don't shoot parachutes in game as I think it's a bit the equivalent of "tea-bagging". But if it happens to me that's okay, it was after all a thing that really happened in WW2.

I realize we now live in a crazy post fact world where the truth is considered to be no longer politically correct, however, just for the record, as far as I'm aware the Soviets weren't signatories to the pre WW 2 Geneva Conventions.

Well ,now that we are talking about it. I just got teamkilled in WOL  . Or he did not kill me but had to make emergency landing. I was flying a Bf-110 and he was in Bf-109. Master server seems to be down so not being able to ask why. I watched the recording, I was on the deck and he was coming in high so I think he thought I was in Pe-2

I had chance yesterday to do that but was scared that everyone will start hating me and maybe even kick xD but it was tempting. But that happens, some people keep shooting at downed aircraft or white cross ju52. Kind of annoying if that happens but that's also fun, adds realism and shows that it's not knight battle but just dirty peasant :D

Btw I don't know where you people got that TK.. it was about FF, I never even killed anyone (until today hehe 2 shot down ENEMY planes) and that was my first FF accident in months! Banning for this is just stupid, especially that FF happens all the time, there is no game without multiple info about FF, but I don't see anyone else being kicked because of it. Especially that mostly nobody even apologise (while I did)

We are all different... we don't all play the game in the same way. That's fair enough.

I like to think I have high morals, values and standards.

There needs to be a certain amount of fair play, even handedness if people make genuine mistakes.

On the other hand, if someone is being an utter twat they need to be punished.

What that punishment needs to be however is a difficult thing to police... childish attitudes and loutish behaviour should not go unchallenged, the same as real life.

We are what we are however... I know I would never knowingly team kill anyone (unless of course they are persistently and aggressively attacking fellow team players)

I also know I would never shoot at anyone in a parachute... that's just my own moral code. (I would never do it in real life, so I see no reason to do it in game)

Still, these topics have been covered in the sim world for years, over and over... and yet here we are, still dealing with the same perceived drama... I guess it just comes down to an individuals human nature...

You cant know that to be honest, some guy keeps shooting your whole squad down where are your brothers in arms or even shoot their parachute, you could get angry and just kill him like this. You never know who you would become during war. I bet everyone said that he would not do mamy things and then we all know how war looked like and still looks.

Even if in game someone is killing people on parachute etc I don't see reason to punish him lol, if it's in game it's meant to happen. Yesterday someone started shooting at my crashed plane, it was dick move and I did not like him for that but there is no reason to punish him for that, maybe just scream "Du kommunistisches Schwein" :P

I was not angry at the guy who shot me, I knew he just made a mistake. I got back to the server eventually and notified that he shot a friendly.  He was very sorry and thats it, I know he will be more careful next time. These things happen.

You my friend should not presume to know me... I was in the military system for 38 years. I've seen and done things that would make your hair stand on end.

I know very well how I behave in conflict... and I promised myself I would never sink to some of the lowest levels that humanity would drag itself down to... I'll leave it there.

WoL is server where new players start so 90% of chat is consist of "xxx earned penalty for friendly fire", players going there should expect that.

But guy maybe had a bad day so his team voted for ban, few days ago i was rude to a guy shooting at me while i was on the runway (dogfight server), "i apologise" if he read this!

Doubt it, ball goes back, paramedic, nothing can surprise me. And also know that people will change, want or not, only question is when. And would not compare ww2 with what we have now. But that's not time or place for this discussion.

What I started doing recently is if I get shot at by a friendly and survive I try and take him down when he overshoots followed up by my sincerest "sorry" in chat. Did it 2 times successfully and felt great!

And that is being mindful of your team mates?

That is worse, than accidental shooting, I have absolutely no respect for that. I personally do not care for any friendly kills, flying bombers I have more than once had a a****ole gunner shooting in my plane. So when someone mistake my PE 2 for a BF 110 my patience is already wearing thin.

But apart from the first one, I eat it up, it part of frustration being in public server. If you cannot deal with it, you should not be there. So I ask you to do like me, go less on public servers if you cannot handle the frustration, because despite what your self righteous ego thinks you have no right to shoot down a friendly. And I hope you one day make that mistake yourself, so you can learn some modesty

The other day I was taking off in a Bf 110 ... as I was climbing a 109 dove on me and started shooting me down... and then 2 other 109 came and tried to get their piece of the action... despite telling them to stop shooting many times, all 3 kept shooting at me for a good 45 sec till I went down in flames...

Yes, accidents do happen, but very often it's also sheer stupidity, and it gets old very, very fast... so don't be surprised if people are not always very patient...

This is pretty clear to me. First time ok cool shit happens. Second time a warning. Third time temp ban. And I mean in a round/night not over the course of a couple of weeks. If they do it all the time I would hope they get a longer ban.

I will also straight up ban a gunner if they hop in shoot me up continuosly. If it is a mistake in the heat of the moment that's cool.

Well said Trooper. You beat my 20 years hands down.

If someone hits at me accidentally or shoots me down by mistake, its "No worries mate, happens to all of us :)"

If you go for me in the parachute though - then you are dead to me forever.

^^if he is any good shot, then its you who is dead ;)

on a more serious note about friendly fire...while its frustrating to get damaged or even shot down by a comrade, i dont mind too much, as long as its obviously an accident and if he then actually cares to write a simple "sorry" in the chat...

but all too often i experience people dont even care to say sorry, or even worse, shoulder shoot and hit you just because they are greedy for the enemy in front of you, well and then there are a few who just FF on purpose and seem to get some kind of entertainment out of it for some strange reason...

Ypsan or yakdriver.. and then you wonder why game is not popular. What can't you understand? Is it that hard for you so I have to say it again?

Go play with FF off or icon server if you have problem with FF. For the love of god, I don't understand people like you. If you are going to vote kick or complain about ff them DONT PLAY ON FF SERVER. It's like crying about having cheese in cheeseburger, just get regular one but noo you like cheeseburger name better? Want consider yourself as pro who fly on super ultra realism server but cry about FF.

no, i dont care if it is popular or not.

I rather it be unpopular and exxpensive

i do not even know what votekicking is.

Do not care about Friendly fire.

There is no such thing as friendly torpedoes they say in naval games

there is also no such thing as friendly fire.

Bullets and bombs and napalm and torpedoes are designed to be UNfriendly.

The only thing there is, are either triggerhappy, incompetent or outright Childish pilots.

Its not the gun or the bullet that kills.

its the (censored) who pulls the trigger.

And they are everywhere on the net, so stop raging already.

You just called 99% people triggerhappy, incompetent or outright Childish pilots.

Because you never did any FF in entire game... mr Perfect.

Just browsing best players on WoL, there is quite a few people with team kills, it does not show FF so it would probably be even worst. So how about calm down kid?

Posted

May be a instand penalty of -500 to -1000 points per FF aerial kill on the inflictor`s statistics, could be a nice measure to reduce such accidents a little bit.

Found that while watching ww2 footage, quite interesting.

And so what.

Are you looking for harmony and perfection?

Uuuhg... we are not perfect.

we are incompetent.

We suck!

We all do.

I do.

You do.

The sooner this gets into our heads, the better.

It should happen by the age we hit puberty, mkay?

Big deal.

I like Rising Storm 2's mechanic where you can type a command in chat that forgives the incident. It nullifies the penalty iirc. Ground attack FF is what annoys me. If I'm chasing an attacker over friendly ships, and 1 stray 7.7 mm round bounces off the hull, I don't think that should count for friendly fire.

Posted

Accidental Friendly fire can happen in any game.

Accidental is fine, deliberate is not.

IMHO.

If its you on the receiving end it will be worth it.

As a matter of fact, your complaining is childish and if you've spent even a second thinking about inconvenience your TK caused to that guy you probably wouldn't even start this thread. You sound like the guy that needs to be TKd on a regular basis for a period of time, perhaps you'll start understanding the frustration. I'll keep an eye over my shoulder for you.

Due to your responses here, how many people do you think are now keeping an eye over their shoulders for YOU, immature lil bastard.
