A kudos! regarding the mirror implementation ...

Used it for the first time last night, and indeed it looks very good ( as pretty much everything graphics-wise and not only in this sim... ).

The impact in FPS actually allows me to use them ( I believe there is even no way to disable the mirrors ? ), contrarily to my experience with another simulator where enabling "Mirrors" had quite an impact in my FPS...

Well, since mirrors are selectable field mods, You can always turn them off completely that way.

As great as they are, I don't use them, because they obstruct too much of my 12 o'clock high.

On the Yak1b you dont really need them, but i would like a mirror on the later Il-2's or the upcoming Hs-129.

I haven't had a chance to try them yet. Does anyone have any video footage?

Absolutely true. I think on the Hs-129 it's a must.

I think only planes that had then really during WW2 should have them in the game.

Do not forget some planes had them has a build in feature other has a field modification other never had any rear view mirror.

Like you can see on the Yak 1b and on the P40 some had internal and other externel ones but some like the Spitfire had one or the other.  :salute:

Beautiful implementation but kind of useless, at least in VR.

The low resolution makes it impossible to really spot any plane behind you unless it's really very close, and then it's likely too late...

IMO the mirror is not worth giving up the 12 o'clock high real estate, at least until we will have to park our airplanes in reverse :-)

The harder spotting in the rear view mirror I find both realistic and not a problem. Spotting anything at long distances in my cars rear view mirror is a lot harder than through the front windscreen as well.

Besides, the rear view mirror is not really for spotting as much as alerting you to enemies speaking up on you at close range.

A rear view mirror on a fighter plane is just there to give you an unfortunate preview of your impending demise!

Ah but they're pretty well done here in IL-2. Nice job.

One of my best experiences in IL2 once was checking my rear view and seeing an enemy silhoeutte in it- Yes, like the movie!

Love it. Glad they enabled this.
