Warpig Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 A few days ago I was flying at low level admiring the new update and scenery. While flying, a thought crossed my head like, how cool would it be to see a pack of wolves in the wilderness? Or maybe a Bear with her cubs, a herd of deer, even a wolf pack chasing a deer! Just a thought. 2
CanadaOne Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Back in the day, in Falcon 3 I think, if you flew to Hoover Dam you saw a giant faucet. And if you flew over Japan at a certain spot, you saw Godzilla. That was fun. Flightsims need some fun Easter Eggs. 1
Guest deleted@83466 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I happen to like the zombies that you occasionally see walking around
=EXPEND=CG_Justin Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 One of the things I notice is, there are no birds in Russia....at least in this sim anyway. How cool would it be to hear birds chirping and singing along with the sound of the wind while you're waiting for your engine(s) to fire up!?

How cool would it be to hear birds chirping and singing along with the sound of the wind while you're waiting for your engine(s) to fire up!? There are Skylarks chirping when parked at airfield during the summer maps. I love the sound of Skylarks and I sometimes just sit in the cockpit listening to them and that ambience. They don't seem bothered by the flak batterys when they are in operation - so quite a steadfast bird are the IL2 Skylarks.
SYN_Mike77 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 And the dogs bark! I remember in MSCFS 1 that if you flew over the exact coordinates for the center of Stonehenge a Flying saucer appeared. 'course, it could have been a 109, hard to tell the difference in that game.
Beazil Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 quite a steadfast bird are the IL2 Skylarks. I'm sure I saw one grab it's crotch and spit. How do we know there aren't Easter Eggs there now? Maybe we just haven't found them yet.
Warpig Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 I could imagine seeing a Sasquatch on the winter map. But it would have to be ultra rare to see. How trippy would that be?
Beazil Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Well we did have an Xmas tree in the menu hangar before. I think.
Feathered_IV Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) Back in the early days of Rise of Flight I discovered a lonely monument on a hilltop, shaped like the tail of an Su-27. Apparently it was placed there in honour of one of the Russian aerobatic flyers who was killed during the time of the maps development. Edited May 18, 2017 by Feathered_IV 3

No601_Swallow Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 CloD has that contemporary harbour wall at Dunkirk... (And it should have had a flying pig at Battersea Power Station.) 1

Just a thought. Or flocks of gulls flying over the river Volga. Seeing flying birds in the distance adds to the immersion of flying yourself in a sim. In old IL2:1946 we have this mod. It looks static in the screenshot but they were actually flying from A to B. Edited May 18, 2017 by Uufflakke 1

If yes, do you have a map & location? Fun discussion & nice suggestions. Yeah, maybe the devs will eventually find time to have a little fun & place some things here & there.
Feathered_IV Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 It's still there I believe. I'll see if I can get you the coordinates when I'm home this evening.
=FI=Blue2 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Thanks Feathered. Been a while since I fired up ROF. A little added motivation never hurts.
Feathered_IV Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Found it. On the hill, just a kilometre or two northwest of Frolois: 2
Elem Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 (edited) If I were a map maker I couldn't resist popping in some hard to find fun object. How about a Loch Ness type monster that surfaces sometimes somewhere in the rivers or lakes! Or, better still, a hidden Pink Panther/Panzer!! The Devs have not admitted to any EE's but I hope they'll take note of this thread and consider something for the Kuban map. They could even offer prizes in a "Treasure Hunt" which would suck in flyers to scour the map. Edited May 20, 2017 by Elem 1
