Hello All,

I had to reset hard drive.Saved game folder prior to reset.Moved it to Program 86 file after reset. However when launch game it did update. ( I saved game version prior to 2.010 update) but would not play- I receive the following message: D3D Compiler_43 is missing from computer ? Also, I get an error message regarding Fmod ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

3) Can I make a copy of the game folder and move it to another PC?
Yes, it can be done. After the game is installed:
- copy the entire IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad folder and paste it where you want it
- install all necessary 3rd party software from ...\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\updater\3rd_party\
- start the game using ...\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\
Il-2.exe, or Launcher.exe files

Andy,

Installed "3rd Party" software. I no longer  the D3D compiler  message - Now I only get this message: Fmod_event 64.dll is not found on computer?  Won't run game.

That's odd, because my game has fmod_event64.dll  in both the IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\viewer and IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game folders. If saved the game and copied it to a new folder, it should still be there,

I think you might be better off downloading the game again, and starting with a fresh install. And I'd I'd advise not installing it in the default Program Files of Program Files(x86) folders - this can lead to problems, as Windows gets picky about write-protecting files there.

How do I down load the game again ? I found out Norton keeps removing the Fmod_event64 .ddl from my computer. A fresh download may be my only solution.

Download from here: https://il2sturmovik.com/download/ (I think you need to be signed in on your account to access it).

This may not help though, if Norton is deleting the file. As for what to do about that, I've no idea - hardly anyone seems to use Norton these days, as it has such a lousy reputation.

NEVER EVER put games or steam in the following directories (will just cause endless security issues and problems)

C:\Program Files (x86)
C:\Program Files
C:\ProgramData
C:\Users

All games and steam should goto a folder like
C:\Games or better
D:\Games so not even on the windows partition

All my games, including all Steam, are on C:\Program Files (x86) and have been for donkey's years, and I have never had any security issue or problem on Windows 7.

Windows 10 - who knows?
