Box style is no cockpit interaction. Why mention BoX in a poll that has 3 options for cockpit interaction? nonsense.

The problem I see is that DCS which has all the interaction varies in complexity. Some planes, like the f-86 mentioned or even the mustang take little time to learn and others like the A10C can take weeks, even months!

Cockpit interaction is either on or it's not. Il2 bos could be defined as moderate as although you don't press with mouse, you do use keys to operate nearly everything so you still have a high level of interaction wheras some games it's literally press start, takeoff and blow stuff up. But even DCS does not model every single thing in every pit and some things you can press buttons that are not linked to anything.

I like the idea of the poll, but I too don't really understand it.

As stated:

  • None.
  • Interaction with mouse to operate cockpit functions.
  • Interaction with keys to operate cockpit functions.

This leads on to a separate question of how complex you want your systems modeled and how accurate. Are you ok with having stuff missing that could be done irl, is the system detailed enough compared to its real world counterpart and does it operate the same way. Are you OK with it being dumbed down for the game or overly enhanced to be easier.

One of the things lots of people don't like in il2 bos is the automatic start where you can't perform the start steps yourself, you have to press a key and watch it being done for you. For some it does not matter, for others they would like the option to do it themselves.
