LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 (edited) Hello, I need your help. After update BoS crashes with the attached error msg after 2-20 minutes of flight, usually sometime after I have used Bf 109 E7 weapons (MG or bombs). Haven't tried other planes yet. I have tried multiplayer in Moscow and sinlge player in Lapino, exact same results. My DXdiag.txt is attached. I have updated latest NV drivers, reinstalled DirectX, VC++, dotnet 4 and verified BoS installation with steam. I had zero problems with the previous BoS versions. Thank you in advance. II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 (edited) What video card are you running? That looks like the DX error associated with Nvidia 780 cards. Edited May 12, 2017 by II/JG17_HerrMurf
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) It indeed looks like the GTX 780 crash, HerrMurf. I may be wrong, but right now it seems to me they added some damage related effects in the last patch which do not work with my Titan. Whenever such effects are drawn, my game crashes. It is really difficult to execute any mission without anyone taking damage. I have tried the most stable driver version recommended in the 780 thread (it is 368.81), then the oldest I could find 353.06 and the latest version 382.05. Will keep trying all that I can find. I have been unable to complete a single flight since the last patch. I can't get a Steam refund any more, I've flown over 100 hours. I don't know who is to blame Nvidia or the sim programmers, but I'm stuck. My squad will have to learn to make their own coops too. It's a pity - I had just learnt all the tricks of the trade. We've flown complicated, randomized, voice-acted co-op missions complete with voice acting from other simulations, for example. Edited May 13, 2017 by LeLv30_Superbus
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Update your driver to the newest again and then make a ticket for the support team. Seems unusual for a late model Nvidia card.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) well, don't blame your old video card I guess. not to mention your OS.. which isnt supported any longer upgrade and you should be fine.. don't blame the game because you still in the stone ages. Edited May 13, 2017 by 71st_AH_Mastiff

LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 That's right Mastiff, I didn't and I don't blame my stone age video card nor the equally stone age sim (both became available for purchasing at the same time). But what I didn't know was that Windows 7 was not supported by BoS: Minimum system requirementsOS: 64-bit Windows® 7 (SP1) / Windows® 8 / Windows® 10Source: https://il2sturmovik.com/about/#4 Maybe they changed it but I can't access that information because it's not written on these stone slabs Moses gave me.

71st_AH_Mastiff Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) windows 7 doesnt support DX 11 features..not the video card the OS; this is what the error comes down to. from my gaming experience over the years, I never seen Devs go backward compatibility, I just bite the bullet and upgrade to make it easier to game and faster. less of a headache to have issues with what I like to play also. 71st_AH_Mastiff Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 and GTX780, W10/64/i7 2600K comes down to what? NVIDIA issue..
ST_ami7b5 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 NVIDIA issue.. Are you sure NVidia ONLY? NO other game (RoF/DCS/Clod... you name it) have such prob
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 Ticket submitted. Thank you Mastiff and everyone else for your advice. 1
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Are you sure NVidia ONLY? NO other game (RoF/DCS/Clod... you name it) have such prob like the devs stated NVIDIA changed a code in their drivers, which is incompatible with their software on that particular card. to which its was Nvidia, how come AMD fixed their issue and NVIDIA hasn't? keep bothering NVIDIA to fix their code and maybe it will get fixed, like NVIDIA devs promised 6 months ago. ST_ami7b5 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Don't know...I have sent a ticket to NVidia some time ago.First they were very cooperative and fast in response, but now (after I have sent them all the data they demanded) they are silent.... Will contact them again I think. And I am afraid it won't end well... Edited May 13, 2017 by ST_ami7b5
Beaks Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 why on earth is it just il that is affected? I have not seen this issue with any other game at moment. I will also hassle NVidia.

But I think (I hope) it's because they are busy working on the problem itself.
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 (edited) A new observation: it crashed on 1080p resolution too after only 15 minutes of flight. My display is 1440p (32") but I tried flying with large black "picture frames" around the picture. Edited May 21, 2017 by LeLv30_Superbus
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) WINDOWS 7 is still the best gaming OS there is for WIndows.I recently Reupgraded to Windows 7 After Testing out the Spyware and slow trash that is Windows 10.(Woot DX12 for the 2 games that use it)Windows 10 is a massive security risk and it jams ALL Free anti virus programs and PAID ones. They appear to be running but Windows Defender Blocks them all and it CANNOT be turned off.Everytime you connect to windows 10 update it sends a data file of EVERY single webpage you have viewed (on a vpn or not) every program run and every file accessed is recordedBack on topic thoOP Are you running Reshade AT all or did you try to run reshade at all? LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 OP Are you running Reshade AT all or did you try to run reshade at all? No, no reshade or overclocking or any other "suspicious" stuff. I've gone thorugh a dozen or more different driver versions for the video card. It always crashes. The best and the worst result has been with the same driver version (60 seconds and 55 minutes) so I don't see that the driver verson makes any difference. I've also experimented with most graphics settings both in Nvidia control panel and game settings page, to no avail, unfortunately. Nvidia was in touch again yesterday, though, which is good I guess.

=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 To do a clean driver uninstall and install for Nvidia all thats needed now is to Uninstall them from (add/remove programs)Then when you install new drivers just select custom then *PERFORM CLEAN INSTALL tickboxThis will clear ALL old Driver files and stuff installed ALLAny 3rd party programs claiming they are needed to clean driver properly are not for nvidia and mostly malware/Viruses and so on.Any person trying to push such programs either has a vested interest or has been brainwashed by all the marketing for Driver cleaning software/speed up software or and optimization software that 99% of the time cause more harm!
Vendigo Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 (edited) The problem is still there even after clean uninstall/install of Nvidia driver, on GeForce GTX780.. DxDiag.txt Edited May 26, 2017 by Vendigo
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 Crashed with 382.33 in about 15 minutes (1440p).
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 (edited) Any person trying to push such programs either has a vested interest or has been brainwashed [...}. Yesterday I would have said "I agree 100%". But today an Nvidia rep who goes by name "Lohith" told me to try such a program called "DDU". I don't like it any more than you do, but what else can I do? http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html Edited May 24, 2017 by LeLv30_Superbus
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 Something crossed my mind while I was purging old drivers with this "DDU" thing. I don't have any 3D Vision compatible hardware. Do I still need to install 3D Vision Driver after the VR update? Have you guys installed it even if you don't have Rift or Vive or such?
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 I used DDU and re-installed 382.33. It crashed after 10 minutes but a there's a new error message. This was followed by another similar but the filename ended with one more letter, "N". The two were followed by the original error msg (see post #1).
icecream Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 I guess you already tried it but.. have you tried lowering all video settings to the minimum? "Indeed, problem appearing constantly. It can be removed only by reducing all Graphics options to miminal settings"
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted May 25, 2017 Author Posted May 25, 2017 Yes I have tried setting it to "LOW" too. It will crash. Besides it'd hardly be a solution, because I would not play with the sim looking like that. I have stopped playing BoS. Luckily all ny other sims still work fine at 1440p.
Beaks Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 not a fix tho games looks terrible on min spec. This has been going on for too long now! I have played il 2 bos from early access. and for the first time ever!!! I have put it to the side and now playing other games. I have lost a huge amount of faith with this game now. It worked absolutly perfect all the way till the vr update!! Why change something that works perfectly? I wish instead they focused on the release of bok and the new dynamic campaign spoke about before. I have every single dlc in game and will continue to support if this is sorted, feels like the death of the best flight sim on the market at the moment!. I don't care weather its Nvidias fault or 1c but this needs sorting before any other work on game is done!!!!!! Half of the players cant even fly or 1 hour with no crash!!! COME ON!
-=PHX=-Tom- Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 (edited) Same problem here. I have a 780. We had the famous driver problem and we were provided with a solution, go back to older drivers. A temporary solution at best, but at least it worked. Now we have this new problem, since the VR update, and now more cards are involved. I have tried all the possible fixes provided by the community, and nothing. What upsets me most is that in this case we have not received a single word coming from the support team, not a simple "roger that, too bad, we are working on it, be patient". Nothing at all. Maybe a contemptous "nvidia problem". Is that all? Is that a support worth its name? All of us have invested our money in this sim. And now it simply does not work. I have told everybody wonders about this sim, it was fantastic, the true heir of Il2 saga... now I regret all that. I have to see new development diary entries telling us "Hey, look at this wonder, the Hs 129 is almost ready for Kuban" and other stuff, but a lot of players simply cannot fly, and there is not a solution in sight. I have seen answers like "just buy a 1080"... Great. Like many more, I am grounded right now. think about that and think about the effect that it is going to have in the community. When you conclude that these problems are going to put the project at stake, please take this seriously and provide us with a solution. And if that solution works for more than two months, much better. Maybe when that happen some of us will be around here still. Many others will not. Edited May 28, 2017 by -=PHX=-Tomcat_
mpdugas Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 Reading thru this thread, its hard to tell how the various Nvidia drivers are installed. When I've had Nvidia problems, I've been told not to install any of their drivers by using the GeForce Experience utility, but to use the stand-alone version of the driver update downloaded from the Nvidia website. Something about the GE corrupts the installation on occasion. There is also some sort of Nvidia utility that also lets you do a complete removal of Nvidia drivers, cleaning up registry issues in the process. I do not recall the name of that utility, and I gather that there are several that work well. My last chore, before I install the new driver, is to do a registry sweep using something like CCleaner or its kin. A clean installation usually works to solve driver installation issues.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 (edited) Also make sure the Nividia drive number folders, the older ones are deleted. They get left behind located in the program data folder usually hidden. Also yes make sure you install full package including the 3D drivers they get used. Edited May 29, 2017 by 71st_AH_Mastiff
Wolfred Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 need to know if this sim supports win7 64bit and nvidia gpu?
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 I requested a refund from 1CGS Support. What is their policy in these situations, do you know?
LeLv30_Superbus- Posted June 22, 2017 Author Posted June 22, 2017 (edited) 1CGS refused my request. Unfortunately, the cause of your problem is due to the interaction between your video card and its driver. Nvidia has recognized the problem and is working to resolve it. Steam also refused my request. We are unable to refund this purchase to your Steam Wallet at this time. Your playtime of an included product exceeds 2 hours (our refund policy maximum). Meanwhile, Nvidia isn't admitting to me they'd have recognized anything. They just make me hop through more and more elaborate hoops: If the issue occurs again after trying the steps above, Suggest you to create a new user account with admin access in windows OS and try playing the game. Okay that latest idea isn't even too much trouble, I might try it. But who has ever heard a corrupt user account making one game crash 30 minutes into the game? I feel I'm corresponding with a troubleshooting AI, not a real thinking techie. Edited June 22, 2017 by LeLv30_Superbus
D.B.Cooper Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Same problem here. And Yep... a 780TI... Before last updates the game ran like silk and kept running on the recommended nvidia drivers. Now it stil runs like silk however not for so long... I updated to latest nvidia drivers and the game still freezes up, after a longer period of time, and this, now wellknown message appeares: DXBufferman11::vb(..) DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED... In game when there are no ground textures visible all is fine and the game keeps running. However when there are ground textures visible for a longer time than black screen, no controls and only sound... I think the solution is in the hands of the developers because all was fine with the recommended nvidia drivers... After latest game updates the trouble begun. again... It gets annoying. The devs should at least respond to this problem. Again,... before last updates all was fine using recommended drivers. Game is unplayable at this moment.... Please solve this issue.
