...silly to ask "How to install a 4k skin?"

 

Same as 2k skins, DL an extract it to the right folder....create a new 4k folder, do I have to DL a 4k template???

It is exactly the same as with 2K skins. No other stuff is needed.

I think you need a 4K template for the craft(s) in question too. Perhaps the appropriate normal maps too to fully realize the added quality of the 4K skins.
