So just playing this sim i can start to experience some snow blindness. But how did the real deal pilots get over this?

I guess what im asking is how did their tactics change. When dealing with such bright surroundings. I seem to be able to rather easy pick out targets against that white back drop.

 

And if they wore tinted lenses how did that effect spotting aircraft? Is there any factual information out there talking about how both sides dealt with winter combat?
