This Week's Update?

Recommended Posts

I wonder what the dev team will have in store for us this week ... what will be new, improved and will we get it in the middle of the week or Friday.  Not too anxious - I have been amazed and very grateful for the early access and amazing progress - but just wondering

I honestly cannot wait to fly the Il-2 again. It's all I want for Christmas. ;)

We'll see if BOS IL2 could take as much punishment as old one  :P

I'm still hoping for Lagg trim very soon, as well as aiming sight on/off controls and lts light adjustment (maybe dreaming on the last one though)

I'm waiting for multiplayer but I'm thinking it will be here when the Stalingrad map is out in January. Can you imagine 30 - 40 - 50 guys on that little postage stamp map we have? lol

Would be cool to have some more planes to fly. However at this point I'm sure they are focused on the Lagg and 109 for now. Im very excited to see how the La-5 will perform vs the 109.

PS, I really hope to see the MiG-3 in the game at some point.

I might be wrong, but I actually don't think they're concentrating on ironing out all the little details on just two planes right now. Rather I think, they're gradually implementing more and more aspects of the sim, to see the effect on performance and stability.

Sure, they will work to fix serious issues such as crashes and game-stopping bugs and will propably also fix smaller things, if it's something easily fixed. Otherwise I think they're primarily focused on new content atm.

What exactly that content is, I don't know. It could be ground attack missions (which would propably mean getting our hands on bombs and rockets as well as the IL-2), it could be implementation of weather effects like clouds, snow and turbulence, it could be the full Stalingrad map or it could be something else entirely. Time will tell.

I hope Throttle inverted axis will be solved and Id like to see all warking gauges, bf slots, CEM for BF, rest issue fixed. Thats all :- ).

What I concern most is the random CTD (not just after plane crash, seems to be inherited from RoF as I've experienced on that game too). Didn't experienced this on many games that I'd played except DCS, RoF and MWO.

Other bugs or inadequacies can be ironed out easily.

I hope you've put down a bug report with your specs. I suffered from the plane-crash-crash bug 1 or 2 times in the first session, but haven't had any other CTDs since then, despite playing on max settings on a nearly 3 year old system.

It would be a shame, if the devs were left with the impression, that the Alpha is more stable than what's actually the case.

CEM for 109 ?

Do you know that the oil radiator shutters and coolant radiator shutters were automatic in this bird ?

propeller pitch, mixture and supercharger were also automatic !

That means that the way the 109 is modelized for the moment is realistic.

The only things they can add is the propeller pitch manual control and the coolant radiator shutters controls because even if it was automatic there was also some manuals settings

If some of you are interested, I've described the cooling system of the 109 in the french sub-forum:

no problem, a good friend has built a track IR for me, based on the original project and driven by the freeware "freetrack"

can't wait for the next session so i can test it!

the whole thing looks brilliant and promising, and it costed about 5 dollars!

Speaking of adding aircraft, I have been curious why the LaGG was first.  Given the name of the game I would have thought another choice would come to mind a little more naturally.

I had been thinking that maybe it was to have two fighters to test against each other, but even then the LaGG is not the most obvious opponent for the 109.

LaGG-3 was still an important plane for the VVS. Available in 1941, over 6000 built, helped stem the tide until better aircraft were available in numbers.

No question about it being important, especially from a "quantity having a quality of its own" perspective, just surprised it was the first choice in a game named "IL-2".  There were several of those built as well.

I'm afraid Oleg will walk out of a shower, we'll find out this has all been a dream, that we are still playing IL-2 1946 and all that we remember never happened. It happened to Pam, didn't it?

I suspect that going with the LaGG-3 first was a cunning plan to get us all to appreciate its charms, rather than everyone picking the Yak and/or La-5  for first preference VVS fighter.

I am just hoping I can squeeze in some time ( busy weekend), to see what I can do with some gunnery.

Last weekend was the first chance I had for this early access, and spent it pretty much working on flying the Lagg.

I'm kinda curios to compare IL-2's capability to take beating with 109 & LaGG's (which were about the same for me, quite low both).

Modeling the LaGG first was a great choice. As we have all noticed this sim is all about realism, in all areas (FM, DM, visuals...). Right now there are no online competitions taking place, so it doesn't really matter that one aircraft is superior to the other. What counts is how well each of them has been modeled, and all our comments might help the devs to find out.

If I were them I would focus on two things:

- Iron out bugs in, and completing features of, the existing aircraft before adding new a/c.

- Add game related features, such as MP, recording, etc.

New aircraft can come later; we may all crave for them, but they don't really help bringing forward the sim at this point.

I'll be that smoking crater just off the runway. ;)  CAP should be interesting.

Some ground pounding with the IL-2 and enemy tank convoys would keep me a very happy camper for the rest of the year.

Why do people create new posts with the same question over and over againagain, when the information they seek has already been posted and is at the top of the 1st page?

Thanks about information. Because the game cost 96 $ and is normal exist questions. Different language is other problem.

So paying 96 $ makes you forget how to read?

Surely reading is easier than typing?

It isn't even difficult to spot, it's at the TOP of the page!

Friend

This no is polemical. Thanks about information. Remember, many languages and diferent culture in here. I see the post now.

Most likely because they are fairly new, many whom English is not their first language, they are excited and do not fully understand. The pre-order page for early access is not real clear on this point.

To us, who have been visiting this forum on a regular basis, it is almost elementary. Not so much for them... patience is a wonderful thing :)

Fair point Don.

I'm not usually so easily irritated. :)
