Ypsan Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Could anyone be so kind as to explain me why in macchi engine sound is the same between 1.2 and 1.4 ata when flying in straight line? When I turn off tech chat its impossible for me to know when I enter combat mode unless I look at the instruments. My CH throttle handle moves softly that sometimes I don't even notice I pushed it a bit foreward.
Riderocket Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 (edited) Do you have boost enabled? The specs sheet says;Unlimited : 2200 RPM @ 1.23 ATA5 Minutes : 2400 RPM @ 1.35 ATA1 Minute : 2500 RPM @ 1.42 ATAWithout boost you will always get 2200 RPM no matter what ATA setting you have. (Hence why you hear no sound difference)With boost enabled you can run unlimited: 2400 RPM @ 1.28 ATAWhen I fly the 202, I always leave boost on, but beware, this will use up more fuelSo it should look like;Unlimited : 2200 RPM @ 1.23 ATA (No Boost)Unlimited : 2400 RPM @ 1.28 ATA (what I use)5 Minutes : 2400 RPM @ 1.35 ATA (Combat)1 Minute : 2500 RPM @ 1.42 ATA (Emergency)Edit: With no boost you cannot use Emergency Power! Ypsan Posted May 11, 2017 Author Posted May 11, 2017 I only use boost in combat but I thought without boost increase ata above 1.3 made the difference. The tech chat was confusing me as it would show emergency mode even though I didn't engage boost. Thanks for clarification!
