Launcher crash with new windows 10 update

As title. everything was fine but windows did and update and now its bricked. I have tried all the usual things,anyone got any ideas?

You dont need the launcher except when a game update is released, in fact it is better to run the game Without the launcher i would recommend doing that.

Make a new shortcut to IL2.exe and run from there.

Easy way to do this.

Copy the IL2 launcher shortcut you have and rename it to IL2 or something.

Then rightclick on the shortcut and change target so it reads like this
\bin\game\Il-2.exe"

Under compatibility tab
Select> Run as Administrator

Click apply & ok.

yea, don't place programs in the program files (x86) or the Program files\ folder, make new ones i.e C:\Games\ IL2 Sturmovik, 

 

this way you can ensure no BS restricted security interruptus happens.

I actually found the problem by running the exe directly as suggested. The snag is the launcher is needed for updates. 

 

In any event it was msi afterburner which was upsetting it. For some reason following the win10 update launcher will crash if afterburner is already running. If you close afterburner, launch launcher, enable afterburner, then start the game everything is just fine. 

 

Its not an issue with the game, microsoft have screwed something up
