Cybermat47 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 I've been trying this out with the Bf-109 E-7. I found that it's actually relatively easy to destroy a T-34 with an SC-250. Dropping with a 1-second fuse as the 34 just passes under the lowered dimmer, at a height of about 100 metres and a speed of around 400km/h, the bomb skips, then detonates in mid-air next to the 34. However, BT-7s, T-70s, and, of course, KV-1s, seem much tougher against the 250. The SC-250s may have been too far away from the T-70s and BT-7s when they detonated, however. SC-50s seem to be almost entirely useless, though I did destroy a BT-7 with one once. Has anyone else been trying this? I'd be interested in hearing if things turned out differently for others, and how different fighters perform. Oh, and before you ask, the SC-1000 is pretty damn good at blowing up tanks. I got two BT-7s with one bomb in the test I did. 1
Dutchvdm Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 I'm useless when using bombs against tanks. Only when dive-bombing with the Stuka i kind off manage... With the BK37 i'm great though, and that's why i want the Hs so bad! BTW.. The sc-50's need a direct hit with impact trigger. Some pilot's use the Ju-88 with the full 50 loadout, and drop them along an entire tank column. That works ass well. Grt M 1
[_FLAPS_]Grim Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 I find it realy hard to kill tanks with bombs. I prefer other targets with the JABOs...ideally something that I can fight with guns also.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 it's not you.. Its the bombs..these games always tend to nerf bombs v tanks or never consider compression waves.old discussion beaten to death like a dead whores

Destroying tanks was really difficult with bombs in WW2. Maybe the modeling of killing the crew could help. I think bombs are modeled quiet nicely. Grt M 1

It exploded near, tank fell into bombcrater and overturned. Result - crew safe and uninjured, tank undamaged.
216th_Jordan Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 a 100kg bomb spot on will kill any tank. The 50kg bombs on the sturmovik are often not enough to destroy the bigger PzIV but they work nicely on PzIIIs. All you really need is enough distance to align yourself and place the bomb where you want to have it. You want to drop it from as low as you can and this usally requires to set a fuse with a higher delay (5 seconds for soviet fuses - about 0,3 seconds until the bomb arms itself) so you can release at a later point. A common tactic I'm using is lining up 500-1000 meter above and about 2 or 3 km behind the tank I want to destroy. I go into a 30° dive towards the taget and when I get closer I pick a spot where the target is likely to be 5 seconds after I dropped the bomb. Usually with a bit of practice the hit/destruction rate is higher than 50% with this method. I have not tried this with the 109 but I would guess that the 4x50kg bombs should be enough to bust some soviet tanks when hit directly.

The overpressure is actually only deadly or incapacitating at short distances, even for very large bombs. When a blast occurs people in the vicinity are killed by shrapnel and other fragmentation or by collapsing buildings, seldom by overpressure. A tank protects you very well against shrapnel and collapsing structures and semi-well against blast overpressure. 2

I tried many times but was convinced it couldn't, even with what I thought was a direct hit. Edited May 6, 2017 by B0SS
Bando Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 @HvB: That was a nice video, thanks for sharing. I'll try your recommendations. 1
ShamrockOneFive Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 You might be able to get the BT-7 with an SC50. Those tanks were very lightly armored. The others I'd expect would be more difficult to kill. You're better off taking your changes with the single SC250 that the Bf109E-7 can carry than the rack of 4 SC50s. It still requires a direct hit to really kill these tanks and especially so with the KV-1. Tanks were not easy to kill from the air. Not until some of the bigger guns and cluster munitions started to be used.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Video would be better without the aging Plastic Warriors of the Silicone Squad plastered all over it..Some of them old enough to be my mother (and im 32) come on please if you do that use hot young models
Rheinmetall Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnmOJ-IotLo&t=725s Not only was that just the right technicals I was looking for, it was very well edited and damn funny. Big ups fella.
