Danziger Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Just heard about this on bookface. It's made by the train simulator people. Supposedly securing the future of flight sims.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Just heard about this on bookface. It's made by the train simulator people. Supposedly securing the future of flight sims. Securing the future! Like Dovetail Games and their flight simulator! /s I guess any decent introductions to the genre are good.
AndyJWest Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 So another rehash of MSFS is really all 'the future of flight sims', has to offer?
Guest deleted@30725 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 The pits look nice, but I like my virtual flying to involve a lot of pretend killing.
CanadaOne Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 So another rehash of MSFS is really all 'the future of flight sims', has to offer? There is much more then that. And nothing at all wrong with MSFS. The newest iteration, with some ORBX scenery on top of it, makes for some first class flying. 1
19//Moach Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 FSX is anything BUT dead - actually, seems the FS addon industry has boomed with the advent of a stable, unchanging platform to build upon we now have glorious stuff like A2A, and ORBX, and PMDG, to name a few - all of which can develop freely into a level of depth which would have perhaps been daunting back in the day when the prospect of platform-induced obsolescence was ever present it also seems to me, the sim community has only grown more and more - however, demand is massive, and supply is dismal thin alas, the moneyed layman who might invest in games, rarely ever sees this, and hardly becomes convinced thereof, when the industry is overshadowed by bullies who spend billions to advertise their newest cash-grab scheme to sell gambling addiction to children (with their mommy's credit card).. *rant mode: abort!!* anyways, those same ppl tend to THINK, that whatever was the last success is "the future" - and the industry will waste billions every year chasing after ghosts of fads bygone, whereas real demand exists outside the trendchasing fail-train... I'm a game developer IRL, see... and I actually give a shit about the games I make - so this stuff hit very close to home for me I am not affiliated with any simulator makers at the time... would that I was - anyone wanna invest? 4
Danziger Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 I bought their train simulator for my son and it's really good. I was thinking a flight sim from these guys could be pretty awesome. It's been almost 15 years since I played a civilian flight sim so I think I will get in on this.
TheBlackPenguin Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I am liking X-Plane 11 a lot, but one can have more than one flight sim imho . I may not get it right away and see how the reviews here and elsewhere are like.
Mmaruda Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 We'll wait and see, but I guess another sim on the market is only good news right? Even if it's just a modernised version of FSX. If it provides me with a least one interesting plane and is as easy to setup as IL-2, I might buy it.
Sokol1 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 This? http://store.steampowered.com/app/389280/Flight_Sim_World/
Bullets Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I am interested! I am hoping its FSX but with BOS level flight physics
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 If using the FSX/P3D Engine it will always be Fly by Config FileSo any plane can fly like any other plane just by changing config file...Don't get me wrong i love FSX/P3DNear 5,000 hours combined with X-plane
Guest deleted@30725 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Near 5,000 hours combined with X-plane I don't think I have that much time in any game ever!
BeastyBaiter Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 I might have in DCS (including stand alone DCS:BS, which wasn't DCS as we know it now) and the original IL2. On topic, good to see someone taking a stab at flight sims but I'm not terribly interested in this one. An FSX refresh is tough to get excited about. It's about like slapping a new coat of paint on a Yugo. It might look better, but you're still going to be pushing it to your destination.
