HagarTheHorrible Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 It's that time of year and the sheep are feeling friskie. Accidental collisions. Will, does, VR help to reduce this curse of the combat flight sim world ? Low resolution might not help, but does the extra depth perception help pilots to avoid ramming into each other or do you think it's just a case of bad flying and nothing will reduce this problem ?

Madov Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Now that I am flying only in VR I discover improved perception of time and distance and this has helped my taran considerably. Anything that pulls the invader out of the sky is fine!
HagarTheHorrible Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 Head on last night (multiplayer). I blame poor resolution and the fact I'd just fired several rockets at him so I couldn't see him properly through the rug.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 What Low Resolution??VR is not lowand those running it on 1080 and the like using 1.5x SS are running the VR @ 4K2560 x 1440P X 1.5 = 4K
HagarTheHorrible Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 Pixels per degree is a better indication of clarity rather than total number of pixels, at the moment I think it stands at about 15. Sharpness and definition are lacking especially for fine judgement, low aspect, high closure merges. I think general collisions are maybe less likely, even if OrLoK appears to enjoy snuggling up to his opponents, but I don't think it's quite there yet to make any great impact on head on passes. Why on earth does auto correct change "fug"to "rug",or as I write this "fun" ?
Wolf8312 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 To be honest after using a few tweaks, I don't understand why people always bemoan VR resolution because with SS at about 1.3-4 for me it really isn't an issue. Before SS it used to look terrible but I seem to be the only person who never thinks or says that the resolution is terrible. Sure it's not perfect, but it's just not an issue for me once I get a particular game dialed in.

HagarTheHorrible Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 I don't have a problem with resolution either, sure it could be better but, as a minimum, it's quite acceptable. That said, for head on merges their really isn't enough fine detail quickly enough to make split second judgements about distance and exact vector. I had a similar merge in multiplayer last night, no rocket smoke this time and no collision but even so.
OrLoK Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I do like *snuggling* but I must admit in general I do have a better sense of distance and actually saw my wing *snuggle* above being a crash from quite a way off in retrospect. I must remember to trust my instincts in future. My excuse is i'm getting used to flying again since IL2. Im sticking with it. L
