HagarTheHorrible Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Anyone else get this? When your view jumps up or down and resets, requiring you to press the recenter key every time it happens. It would be only marginally less annoying if every time it jumped up I wouldn't get the thwack noise of my head hitting the canopy. I wonder if it's related to canopy restrictions introducing errors that finally reset themselves. I'll give it a go with restrictions turned off and see if it makes a difference, although, having got used to them, I quite like the restrictions now.
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 No, I haven't experienced this? Only time I ever need to recenter my view is if I've just started the game. When viewing the map my view drifts awkwardly, but moves back when the map is turned off.
dburne Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I have never had that issue of yet with my Rift. I currently do not fly with the restriction on.
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Do you have head restrictions on ? Yeah, flying on WOL.
OrLoK Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Restriction off. I *do* get this issue. I assumed it was poor trackin as my second sensor seems to not alway fully function
Beazil Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) Restriction off. I *do* get this issue. I assumed it was poor trackin as my second sensor seems to not alway fully function This is what I would think the culprit may be. I've had some minor stuttering with my Vive as well, but re-focusing the two base stations and re setting room setup on the Vive fixed the issue for me. If you are on a Rift, (or someone reading this thread) you may only be using one tracker, and if it's not positioned well, you might experience that stuttering as well. I only mention this because I was experiencing similar issues. Edited May 1, 2017 by Beazil
HagarTheHorrible Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 I might try and reset the trackers. I have two, one extra when I bought Touch. Curiously it either only happens, or I only notice that it happens, in BoX, DCS is fine as are, to the best of my knowledge, all the other games I have. I did try a short hop earlier, without cockpit restrictions on, but it wasn't any better.
coconut Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 A common complaint on the oculus reddit is that tracking calibration gets wrong and "lifts" the viewpoint higher than it should be. Maybe it's something that's affecting you as well? Curiously it either only happens, or I only notice that it happens, in BoX, DCS is fine as are, to the best of my knowledge, all the other games I have. Do you play the other games as much as you play BoX? If you are like me and spend most of your VR time in BoX, it's only natural that problems manifest themselves primarily in that game.
dburne Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I know Oculus recently updated their runtime to version 1.14. While it does not prompt one to do so, it is recommended after each update to re-run the sensor setup routine.
OrLoK Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Ive not noticed it in Elite Dangerous. Ill try to test this today. Ps Filthy Rift user here
HagarTheHorrible Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 OK, setting up the sensors again seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks for the input guys.
