1./KG4_OldJames Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I turned on my PC today, and all of a sudden, Opentrack doesnt work...not just doesnt work in game, but doesnt work at all. it seems to not be connecting to my camera, as the interface shows just a black screen without the tracking dots. The camera still works, and with the ir screen it still shows the tracking leds, therefore camera and headset are working, which means it is either a setup fault, or a software fault. I havent changed anything since I last used it the day before when it was working properly. since the problem started, i have uninstalled and reinstalled the Opentrack software, and the same with the webcam, but still with no joy. Any (and I mean ANY) ideas?

ST_ami7b5 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Few months ago my TrackIR 5 died suddenly. So I bought EDTracker Pro and with Opentrack it works very good.No more problems with external light, because EDTracker is based on gyro, so no camera needed. So far very satisfied...
1./KG4_OldJames Posted April 29, 2017 Author Posted April 29, 2017 Tbh, I am browsing eBay looking at second hand htc vives.
ST_ami7b5 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 IIRC some people here suggested not to buy second hand VR.VR is still under development and I will wait a bit before spending money on it, though it's very tempting
No_85_Gramps Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) Have you double checked the camera settings in OT? Running OT as admin? Have not come across this before. Which camera? Edit: Try unplugging the camera and plugging back in. Sounds like OT is not finding the camera. Edited April 29, 2017 by Gramps

coconut Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Maybe another USB device is interfering? Even if you haven't connected any new device recently, an update in one of the drivers or the USB subsystem in windows could cause devices to be recognized by their respective drivers in a different order. Or maybe you have two drivers that can handle that camera, but only one works with OpenTrack? You might get better luck asking on a forum dedicated to OpenTrack. Doesn't the project have an official forum, mailing list, issue tracker?
1./KG4_OldJames Posted April 30, 2017 Author Posted April 30, 2017 Just a quick thought, as the hardware is still working, shouldn't I be able to uninstall opentrack, and use freetrack or something similar? Doesn't the project have an official forum, mailing list, issue tracker? not that I can find, only random threads like this on various forums. Maybe another USB device is interfering? Or maybe you have two drivers that can handle that camera, but only one works with OpenTrack? you might be on to something there. That sounds feasible.
No_85_Gramps Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 There is a forum for submitting questions/problems with OT. Go to https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack and click on the issues tab. I see a post there that I assume is yours as it is for the same issue. You could also try swapping to a different USB port.
1./KG4_OldJames Posted April 30, 2017 Author Posted April 30, 2017 Not my post, but my problem, thanks, but it didnt work.
No_85_Gramps Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) Strange. In the PointTracker settings, under the camera tab, does it correctly identify your camera? Which version of OT are you running? Edited April 30, 2017 by Gramps
1./KG4_OldJames Posted April 30, 2017 Author Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) It does correctly identify my camera, but i notice it now says "tracker offline" since I did a system restore. ok, not sure what i did, but now it says "camera info: 640x480 @ 1fps" and "Extracted points: 0BAD!" 1./KG4_OldJames Posted April 30, 2017 Author Posted April 30, 2017 SORTED!! Finally, after n. number of restarts and usb changes, adware, and malware freeware downloads, it all came down to AVG Antivirus. I deleted that and hey presto! happy bunny. Thanks for the help everyone, if you see this problem next time, we all know how to fix it.
HansBlitz Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 I also had the exact same issue with Opentrack with AVG and with Avast on Win 10. Opentrack shows black and the same camera info of 1 fps but doing nothing. I have been running Avast for quite a while no issue until Friday. Today after removing Avast and having Opentrack start working properly again, I attempted AVG with the same resulting failure. I tried adding exceptions to each of them but that didn't help.
No_85_Gramps Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Good info for future reference. I had not yet heard of any issues with AVG/Avast conflicting with OT.
JB_Wells Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 SORTED!! Finally, after n. number of restarts and usb changes, adware, and malware freeware downloads, it all came down to AVG Antivirus. I deleted that and hey presto! happy bunny. Very relieved to find this thread as I currently have the exact same problem that OldJames described in the first post. Will try uninstalling AVG tonight and see if that fixes it for me, too. For you guys no longer using AVG or Avast, can you recommend a free anti-virus that does not conflict with OpenTrack? I'm curious what OldJames and HansBlitz are now using.
HansBlitz Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I am currently using Windows Defender that is part of the Windows 10 install on my gaming system, and that is currently working with OpenTrack.
No_85_Gramps Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Same here as Hans. Windows Defender works well for me and no conflicts w/OT.
1./KG4_OldJames Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 FYI just reinstalled AVG, and the problem still occurs.
