There are some buildings in the mission editor that must have been added in the last update.

Spoiler alert

I should start putting that temple everywhere on the Moscow map - just because.

Cool! (Also... random kid photo! :))

Is that one with the long elevated structure some sort of grain elevator? Some really cool objects we're going to be flying around!

Yes, the object is called elevator, so that's probably what it is.

What do you mean by random kid?

Posted

Where is the elevator located? In the buildings tab?

Beneath "Funicolare" ...

I'll be disappointed if "Funicolare" isn't placed there by a proud parent. : )

Weird, funicolare is Italian for cable railway.

Looks like cable masts for the funicular:)

Aw boo!  It was a photograph of a cute little Asian kid, maybe two years old sitting in a terracotta pot.

Haha weird. I'hosting the screenshots in tinyurl.com and im guessing they are messing up with the links. I was seeing some masts for a cable.

I agree that thats not what i call a funicolare, but thats the name of the object in the ME.

Maybe they have some mountain cable car hanging from above :)

Perhaps this?

"After the Eastern Fron stabilized in early 1943, Hitler ordered the construction of a 4.8-kilometre (3.0 mi) road-and-rail bridge across the Strait of Kerch in the spring of 1943 to support his desire for a renewed offensive to the Caucasus. The cable railway (aerial tramway), which went into operation on 14 June 1943 with a daily capacity of one thousand tons, was only adequate for the defensive needs of the Seventeenth Army in the  Kuban bridgehead. Because of frequent earth tremors, this bridge would have required vast quantities of extra-strength steel girders, and their transport would have curtailed shipments of military material to the Crimea. The bridge was never completed, and the Wehrmacht finished evacuating the Kuban bridgehead in September 1943.

In 1944 the Soviets built a "provisonal railway bridge" across the strait. Construction made use of supplies captured from the Germans. The bridge went into operation in November 1944, but moving ice floes destroyed it in February 1945; reconstruction was not attempted."

Uufflakke, the photo you have posted (with soviet soldiers) is not of the german cable line.It is the one built by soviets in winter 43/44.

Few history facts for those interested:

Built be germans in 23 days, start of operation 14th June 1943
In the summer and autumn of 1943,500-800 tons of cargo were shipped daily. Before the retreat, german troops almost completely destroyed it.

Technical details of german cable line

Anchor station of carrying ropes and a tensioning device with a counterweight for the traction rope was on the Taman side.Tensioning station of the bearing ropes and the drive of the traction cable was on the Kerch side.Judging from original remains, diameter of the carrier cable was 36 mm.The number of supports, as shown by their remains, was 23.Distance between them was 200-250 meters. Masts were made of wood. All other parts of the structure were made of metal and concrete.

The shipping channel of the strait was completely crossed with a span 225m long. This ensured free and safe passage of ships from Azov to the Black Sea and back. The total length of the cable line was 5100 meters.Payload of the trolley was 300 kilograms. Estimated output of the line per hour was 22 tons, per day - with a two-shift operation - 300 tons.

Soviet cable line

As soon as Taman has been liberated (9.10.1943) and bridgehead established at Kerch,Soviet engineers again started to connect both banks of the Kerch Strait.Soviet cable line started to operate in early February 1944. Its length was 5100 meters and it contained 150 freight containers/trolleys. In fact it was an industrial cable line brought from Georgia. There was not much left to be used from previous german line. The daily output was lower then german, estimated 300t max. After the liberation of Crimea, the line has been abandoned/not used anymore. It came into focus again in autumn of 1944,when Red army reached the Carpathian mountains. It was decided to dismantle it and bring it to one of the mountain passes with difficult access. But Red army passed the mountains and moved to the west before cable line could be transported there.

Be sure.

Wonderful.

This Sim is great. Good FMs, planesets, atmosphere, and combat. Then they add too it with great maps and assets.

By far the best CFS and even FS around.

Keep it up, architects and devs :salute:

Seems to be derived from the same root word as funicular - an incline railway?

Very impressive modelling. The new map will certainly require some low'n'slow flying. In fact, perfect for the Po-2 and Fi-156! Get on it guys.

I'd prefer the FW189, you can see much better through the glass nose.

I like of those too, but you'd be flying far too high to appreciate the landscape!

There are enough guys, who even fly the Heinkel that low, that they easily can enjoy the landscape.

There are also parts of port quays and piers, for example for Tuapse, Kerch, and Novorossisk, in the "Grounds" section of the editor. Obviously the developers put a lot of effort in modelling these ports correctly.
