Guys I need a bit of your help here. :)

For years, I've been satisfied with my, now already "battle worn", Saitek Cyborg EVO.

It's time to move on.

First I need recommendations for a good joystick and second a nice pedals for rudder.

I know, now is probably the time to speak about budget.

Truth is: I don't really know what to expect so I haven't "fixed" my budget yet (doesn't mean it's unlimited by any means  ).

I just need some hardware I can trust, and if possible not to unload some extra money if I don't have to.

I know that the big players were and probably still are, Saitek, Logitech, CH etc.

But like I already said, I wasn't really following what was going on the hardware gamers market so I don't know where to begin to be completely honest.

So... any recommendations?

Thanks!

Well I love my Warthog HOTAS setup ( stick and throttle), but you may not want to go to that extreme right off.

The Saitek X52 Pro gets some good comments, as well as the CH Fighterstick.

Pedals - I have been using Saitek Combat Pedals for about a year and a half and they work very well for me. I like the way my heels are on the floor rather than it a " cup ", and the spacing of the pedals feels very natural for me. Plus they have toe brakes for those sims that support them.

Those MFG pedals mentioned above, are my " dream" pedals that I hope to own one day.

ebay for a ms ffb2 FTW! (combined with an x52pro, use the throttle, joystick as a button bay) with saitek pedals.

The Saitek 55 Rhino is about to pop, supposedly for Christmas, I would hang slack and see what it has to offer, there isn't much info on it yet just some teaser videos and renders. If RoF is anything to go by then pedals are an increasingly important, although probably not essential bit of kit.

I simply waggle various body parts in the general direction of the game and it seems to respond. Weird, eh?

Warthog looks fantastic, but that is not exactly my cup of tea.

CH fighterstick or some other like it may do a better job for me as I'm used to use keyboard for most but bare essentials (rudder, ailerons, elevator, PoV HAT & fire buttons).

I've read about Saitek's Pro Flight pedals (I believe, maybe it was "Combat" designation don't know any more) on these and some other boards.

People were saying that they are basically good pedals. Just like you.

They are definitely on my list of possibles.

Yep, a lot of pilots use Saitek's these days... they must be nice hardware :)

Thanks for update.

I think the X-55 isn't going to be on my list because I think joystick - on simple side (not crowded with functions) without twisty rudder - + rudder pedals combo would suffice for me.

I have X-45 that collects dust, never really liked it much. I barely played with it at all.

Got the Cyborg afterwards and never looked back.

But now some other winds of change are blowing... :)

Are you satisfied with it?

Joystick looks nice on pics.

Doesn't look twisty.

I'm seeing two models of Saitek's pedals...

Pro Combat Flight

Pro Flight

Which may be more suitable for us?

Combat looks logical ofc.

I've got the pro flight. Combat wasn't out when i got mine. Think the combats cost way more, and i'm very happy with what i have anyway.

In this case, "simple side", I suggest CH Combatstick (+throttle CH/Saitek... and pedals).

Combatstick have two HAT minus than Fighterstick, but instead have two big buttons, one convenient placed on left "shoulder" of grip, more appropriated to WWII fighters than HATS,

I find dumb press HAT angles to fire rockets or drop bombs... :)

You dont need map things like landing gear, radiators in joystick, use throttle to this.

CH PRO Throttle is practical but ugly and "lack" rotaries, a dubious argument since none joystick/HOTAS offer proper rotaries to use as trim, or they try mimic "jet" functions,

or low resolution (256 points) or have bad quality (e.g. G-940).

Saitek Pedal PRO and Combat are same base and electronics with different foot rest (aluminum in Combat).

In Combat you can pilot with your heel on base, that tend to be more comfortable, price wise cost almost twice...

Hi dkdoor ! I have the Saitek combat pedals. I love them, the spring is adjustable to your liking and they are solidly made. They are best pedals I have had.

Regards a Joystick,I had an x52 for five years and then a couple of X52 Pros.Good joysticks with the most user-friendly Software IMHO !(If you choose to use it !).You don't need it .

A few months ago,I got the Warthog. The difference, for me,is quality !.The Warthog is Heavy, solid !The switches are "Crisp" to use,the mechanical movement of the joystick is smooth,(Some people find it a bit too stiff,I like it)and most of all its precision(in the cockpit) is just awesome.

I maybe wrong,I think the Warthogs polling resolution(rate of sending inputs to CPU) is higher, hence, more precision !!

If you can afford a Warthog, its money well spent !

Then again, the X55 is on its way !!

Do the Saitek's Combat Rudder Pedals have a center "detent" like CH rudder pedals do? I can't stand that center detent, makes precise rudder control impossible. Thinking of either somehow modifying my CH rudder pedals or investing in crosswind..

Indeed it does, however I understand it is easy to remove if one should so desire:

I have not tried this yet, but plan on doing so here before long.

I really like my Combat pedals, however if you have the funds for the Crosswind's and need pedals - don't think there is any way to go wrong with that one.

Thanks for your info!

I have old X-45 collecting dust, so I may as well get myself Saiteks and play with X-45 to see how it works out and perhaps plan to upgrade to this:

Defender Cobra joystick, really looks fine and totally enough for me.

BTW thanks guys. Again!

I really appreciate your help!

Can only comment on the pro flight but I presume the combat are identical in performance, they are great but I find get very dirty over a period of time in between the slots, you can adjust them to size which is nice...

I have the Saitek Pro Flights.. Good pedals with an adjustable footrest. I never tried the other ones and the Pro Flights I have are about 6 years old.

I think the main difference between the Saitek Pro , and the Saitek Combat , are with the Combat your heels are resting on the floor, whereas with the pro you put your whole foot in sort of a cup if I understand correctly. The spacing of the combat pedals may be a little wider than the Pros as well, not 100% sure on that though.

I have the Combat Pedals, and came from an older set of TM Elite pedals. The Elites had the cup the whole foot rested in , and I have found I really like the way the Combat pedals are with my heels resting on the floor instead, seems to be more comfortable and natural to me, at least as compared to the Elites I had.
