Tapi Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Hi, I am new to Il-2 series and I have a question concerning map accuracy: Well, there are at least much more water areas on google map... Can someone explain the difference between maps? Does these cca 60 years produce such big differences?
216th_Jordan Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 (edited) Yes. The big lake you see is the Tsimlyansk Reservoir, it was created in the 50ies. The are a few canals also that connect it to the Volga. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsimlyansk_Reservoir Edited April 25, 2017 by 216th_Jordan 3

Chief_Mouser Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Unlike the official Stalingrad map in Il-2 46, the one in BoS is based on historical geography rather than the present day. Same with the Moscow map.

TP_Silk Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 I'm reminded of the Berlin map with Eisenhuttenstadt on it. Isn't that from Star Wars? The city of the Iron Hutts......
unreasonable Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 My favourite was the European Air Wars map with the M25 around London. And the post war decimal currency in the loading screens. Point it out, though, and the Defenders were all over you like a rash.
