BPWingN Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 (edited) Ever since the latest update, my game will not run. I start it...and get a "Out Of Range" warning on my monitor, with a completely black screen. I can hear the game running. If I Alt-Tab, I can see the hanger/load screen. When I try to go to "settings", or do anything else the screen goes black, and the "Out Of Range" warning is again on the monitor. By hitting Alt-Tab, I can go back to game (in windowed mode) and eventually get to the settings/graphics screen. Everything is set at what it should be for my monitor (1680x1050) I have looked in the conf.ini file, and everything there is as it should be as well. I have a hunch it could be a refresh rate issue, but don't know. Have tried V-Sync on/off and various other settings in graphics while in Windows mode. Reboot game.....and same problem I am not running in VR mode. Any Ideas? BlitzPig_EL Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 I have walked WingN through everything I know to do and the problem still persists, BTW. Compared conf, files, settings, etc... We are at a loss, as he has been able to play the sim since we first picked it up.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Out of Range is a Resolution or Refresh Rate Issue..Are you overclockig Monitor Refresh rates? Also what Resolution is game set to in Startup.Cfg (try something lower than native)

Also what Resolution is game set to in Startup.Cfg (try something lower than native) First off...thanks for your reply. I did as you suggested, set the Startup.cfg to 1024x768. The game booted fine! in game, went to change to 1680x1050...and.......instantly back to same old problem. I am not overclocking Monitor Refresh rates. It was originally set at 1680x1050 in Startup.cfg/conf.ini. I am going to uninstall the game...and reinstall it. I'll see if that does anything. *sigh*
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 you using a TV? or some kind of off the wall monitor, try playing with the overscan and refresh rates in the nvidia panel..
BPWingN Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) you using a TV? or some kind of off the wall monitor, try playing with the overscan and refresh rates in the nvidia panel.. Thanks for the reply. My monitor is a PC monitor....a little old, but runs great. No problems with a multitude of other games, or this one, since before the newest upgrade. Have uninstalled, and reinstalling game now. Will look at NVIDIA panel if no joy from fresh install. Edited April 23, 2017 by BPWingN
BPWingN Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Uninstalled, reinstalled. Started game. Started fine at the default resolution for install. Changed to 1680x1050........and same problem. Checked NVIDIA refresh in NVIDIA panel, and it is at the refresh my monitor needs...60Hz. The other option is 75Hz. Changed to that and got the "Out Of Range" and black screen. I went back to 60Hz. I'm sure it is a refresh rate setting that the game is somehow getting wrong. I just don't know how/where to fix it. BlitzPig_Bill_Kelso Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Try booting into safe mode and changing the vid resolution.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) if this is an old CRT and its doing this, it's a sign it's about to pop.. I have had it happen. Edited April 24, 2017 by 71st_AH_Mastiff
