NO_SQDeriku777 Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 (edited) I know that VR is great and a big shot in the arm for the game, particularly Single Player. My primary interest is multiplayer and I think the development of the Air Marshall will have a big impact for those of us that like to fly structured missions with a purpose. Air Quake is nice but unsatisfying. I hop into Official Teamspeak a lot and it is less than ideal for coordinating focused missions. There is often a lot of idle chatter and it is impossible to coordinate strike missions. There are very few English speaking VVS squadrons that fly in my TIMEZONE but I still want the option to form up with other VVS players to pursue a common objective, regardless of Teamspeak and language. That is why I am so excited about the Air Marshall as it hold the promise of solving these problems. I have asked several times about this feature in Questions for Devs and Han has always deferred to Jason about this. So, I will ask again since I view this as so important to the multi-player experience. Is there any information that can be shared about this feature and how far along it is in development? Since Han deferred this question to you I guess this feature is contention with other features for resource allocation. I just want to say I appreciate all the hard work you and the Devs put into the game. I do hope you will be able to share more about the design in the future. I will keep my eye peeled for anything that pops up in future dev diaries. It's in the schedule for later this summer. We don't know the final incarnation yet. Is this feature still on schedule for later this summer? If so, is there anything that can be shared about the design at this point?

All of the communications impediments caused by the teamspeak ( annoying people, idle chatter, locked squadron-only servers, language differences ) make it impossible to enjoy the game as a Team game. Compare this to a game like Squad with its integrated Comms, command structure, interactive map markers and see where the sales numbers are going. Squad is a HARD game, maybe not as hard as a flight sim but they have built a game that revolves around active Team play and people are flocking to it and rising to the challenge.

While many amazing visual enhancements have been made to the game I was wondering if there is any news on the proposed schedule for the Air Marshall feature?

I am guessing it is some way for a single person to get an overall view of the battle and direct people to the right places without needing to speak their language, perhaps by putting markers on the in-game map? How useful that would be really depends on how much info the Air Marshal has. If all he sees is radar plots then he does not know if it is bomber attack or a fighter sweep or what altitude so cannot just send people that way. If the people there who can see the enemy are speaking Turkish then he will never know. Does it allow people to report what they are seeing from a drop down list ie. 'Bombers-Pos 2115-Alt 2000m-heading West-with Escorts' ? I am guessing it is some way for a single person to get an overall view of the battle and direct people to the right places without needing to speak their language, perhaps by putting markers on the in-game map? How useful that would be really depends on how much info the Air Marshal has. There may be players with eyes on the formation but if they only speak Finnish then they cannot let the Air Marshal know. Does it allow people to send info to the Air Marshal via drop down choices eg 'Bombers-Pos 2115-Heading West-2000m- With escort'? Actually a radar plot would be unhistoric but a way to send info on what you see to a single Controller to collate it all and send out requests for intercepts could be useful. Field-Ops Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 It has not been explained in depth by the devs so we can only speculate. Think of the Battlefield series commander. To me its just going to be an interactive user interface on a "living" map that has its intel on the backbone of a new scouting mechanic. Maybe even intel from landing pilots who had their radio shot up or never had one if the Devs care to go that in depth with delivery of information to the air marshal. Of course that information delivery system might be circumvented by 3rd party programs like TS and Discord. The Devs have been announcing what they have finished working on and what they have begun working on in the last few DDs so its safe to say work on the Air Marshal component might not have begun. Maybe nothing has been finalized, maybe it depends on if the scouting mechanic can be realized, maybe they are waiting on the Po-2 to be finished before moving forward.

I don't think it will solve TS-chat problems but it may up the engagement level of multiplayer.
