Krupi Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Yesterday marked the ceasing of operations from the Filton Aerodrome after a 100 years of flights... Along with the A380 landing there for the last time we were also in for a surprise in the form of a rebuilt spitfire taking off for the first time. It was a fantastic sight seeing it head straight towards the office block I work and then have it veer off to the left flashing the roundels at us :D ... But a sad day for Filton loosing such a piece of history just so a few people can add to there retirement fund, but at least the guys that worked on this spit gave it the send off it deserved (and a nice slap in the face of the airfield owners that wanted the airfield to die quietly). Some more info on the spit RR232 http://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/rebuilt-spitfire-takes-to-the-skies-from-historic-filton-aerodrome.html
