Controlling machineguns

When aiming machine guns,in VR, do you find it more logical to aim by moving the end of the barrel in the direction you want or do you find it better to move the handle in the direction you want ?

 

At the moment I struggle a little between the two, what I've done in the past and what seems normal now.
