E69_julian57 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) Hello, I recently made some skins for the butchers campaign, they are semi-historical like the campaign. Installation: il2 battle of stalingrad / data / graphics / skins / fw 190 a-3 Back up the previous skins. Overwrite files Thanks to Jade_Monkey, ICDP for the great template and 1C Game Studios regards http://www.mediafire.com/file/mvvgiw68ofd4nb4/pack_skins_fw190A-3_THE_BUTCHER.zip Edited July 25, 2017 by E69_julian57 3

Swing Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 I just finished playing "The Butcher"...Just a word: Superb... ...Thanks for all this wonderful job Jade_Monkey... ...and the Focke Wulf is really a great plane... ...
Yogiflight Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Hi Julian, unfortunately I am not very firm with computer stuff, so I did not find the previous files, as I don't really know, what I am looking for. So please tell me, where to look at and what is the file name? And thanks for your work.
E69_julian57 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Hello Yogiflight, the skins pack link is this http://www.mediafire...THE_BUTCHER.zip regards
Yogiflight Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Sorry Julian, you misunderstood me. I already downloaded it, but I don't know to which folder I have to unzip the file.
Taxman Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Sorry Julian, you misunderstood me. I already downloaded it, but I don't know to which folder I have to unzip the file. Here you go, your main Il2-folder-data-graphics-skins-Fw190A3
Yogiflight Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Thanks Taxman, that worked. It was simply too easy, to think that skins might have to be extracted into the skins folder. I had put them into the 'Butcher Campaign' folder.
E69_julian57 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I'm sorry I did not understand you, I failed because I did not specify the installation path.
Yogiflight Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 No problem, after all it worked. Really nice skins. I think I will fly a little closer formations now to see them on my neighbor aircraft.
BlznSaddles Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 I downloaded this campaign today and did the first mission (landing at the airfield) with no problems. However, on the second mission my squad can't seem to take off. They spin out and crash on the runway. Not sure if this is due to the new AI model or the new flight model or if I am doing something wrong. 1
Jade_Monkey Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 Thanks for letting me know. I have not tested it since the new FM. Does it happen all the time or just once. Sometimes the AI has some quirks but some issues dont happen all the time. I'll test it regardless. thanks!
BlznSaddles Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 I have tried it a couple times since and they took off fine. Must have been a fluke.
Jade_Monkey Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 I just tested it a few times and the first time it also did that funny takeoff where the two middle planes looped and crashed into each other. After that the next three times it went fine. It seems like with the new FM the FW190 doesnt know how to take off as well, especially counter the initial torque to the left Thanks for letting me know, I hope the rest of the missions are fine.
Sky_Wolf Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I'm also enjoying the campaign and can confirm that in the 2nd mission the squad mates screw up on the runway from time to time (1 screw up out of 4 take-off sequences in my experience).
BlznSaddles Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Having more trouble with the third mission. I was able to take off and fly the mission the first time I tried it but was shot down (my own dumb fault). Since then I can't seem to get the squad to take off at all. They announce on the radio that they are taking off but they just sit there. I've tried giving them tons of time to get lined up before I even taxi out but it doesn't seem to work. I have tried about 15 times. Twice they started to take off but crashed. Has anyone got any more tips on triggering a takeoff? I really like this campaign, hopefully I can get it working!
Jade_Monkey Posted September 25, 2017 Author Posted September 25, 2017 That's too bad. There is really not a lot the mission designer can do about the whole takeoff sequence, it's hardcoded in the game. The leader is really picky about takeoff position. You have to be close to him and interleaved in two columns such as this:
BlznSaddles Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 The photo should help thanks. I'm out of town so I won't get to try it until the weekend. Thanks for your help and I really like the campaign, don't want to give up on it!
samson Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 My guess it,s all about superposition of schwarm planes and taxi and VPP points of airfield entity. The leader of the scwarm schould stand right on VPP point while first TAXI point should be placed behind number 4 plane. The whole scwarm fits in the space between those two points. Then if direction is right they should take off like this.
Jade_Monkey Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 Samson, the problem is that it was working fine before this patch. I'll do some testing with taxiways anyways. Thanks for the help!
Sky_Wolf Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Is there a reason why this campaign is programmed so that if your plane takes damage you are considered "killed' and have to re-fly the mission? This is the second time I've flown the second mission and failed because I took engine damage or botched a landing. Both times I ended up on the runway alive, but both times I "failed" the mission, despite successfully intercepting Sturmoviks.
Jade_Monkey Posted October 5, 2017 Author Posted October 5, 2017 Hi Pericles, The campaign is programmed so the death message appears when the game considers you (the airplane or pilot) have been killed, not damaged. The problem is that some heavy damage types, especially in the engine, are considered as killed by the game. There is not much the mission designer can do regarding these specific situations other than removing the killed condition. Currently you need to land back alive to progress towards the next mission. I'm considering changing the missions so the next mission is unlocked without landing, but I'm not sure when I'll have time to work on that.
Sky_Wolf Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Thanks for the information. I've never tried to work with the mission designer so this is all new to me.
Sky_Wolf Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Unfortunately this campaign is essentially unplayable when considering the unreliable AI take-off behavior and the fact that if your engine becomes damaged, the mission fails. I just attempted Mission 02 (Morning Surprise) four times in a row and each time the AI squad I'm flying with (#1,2, and 3) did not take-off after I got into position behind them on the runway.
Jade_Monkey Posted October 10, 2017 Author Posted October 10, 2017 Sorry to hear that. I'm done with a skin project i was working on, so i have time to take a look at it this week. I can definitely change the winning conditions so they apply once you complete the major objective (well before landing). I can also remove the killed message and mission end trigger i have in game. However, if your engine is badly damaged the game might still "kill you". Thats hardcoded to the game and cannot be changed. I'll update you here when its done!
Yogiflight Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Isn't it possible to make it work like in PWCG? As long as you return alive behind your own frontline, you can go on with your campaign, no matter if you crashland and the game tells you, that your mission failed.
Jade_Monkey Posted October 10, 2017 Author Posted October 10, 2017 Im sure its possible but i have to learn HOW. I know you have to set up what is friendly territory etc but i need to look at the details. Thanks for the idea.
Yogiflight Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Would be absolutely great, if that worked. It is frustrating when you get hit and know you can exit, because you won't make it back to your base, and will have to refly the mission. But if you know you can go on with the campaign, there is much more motivation to try to come nack to your lines and maybe crashland near own troops or a town.
Sky_Wolf Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 An update: After reading your response you motivated me to attempt to try Mission 02 again. Sure enough, this time my flight mates took off. The mission was a success but unfortunately I failed to lock my tailwheel upon landing and ended up skidding out. According to the programming of the game, this is the same as dying... So I must fly it all over again. Frustrating but the campaign is so well done that I'm sure I'll try the mission again. Have you guys tried the scripted campaigns sold directly by the devs? If so, do the same problems occur (e.g. faulty take-off AI and the game considering engine failure equivalent to pilot death)? Do these scripted campaigns involve engine start-up and taxiing to the runway or does each mission begin on the runway with the engine already running?
Jade_Monkey Posted October 11, 2017 Author Posted October 11, 2017 I went over the missions last night and made all the changes. The death issue seems to be fixed and you will progress to the next mission if you crash land. Im not sure if bailing does the trick though, i think its hard coded to be a failure. It seems like the planes still don't take off in mission #2 even with all the corrections. Quite frustrating. I believe it's an airfield specific issue since the planes take off just fine in later missions which are using a different location. I tried a bunch of changes but did not succeed in fixing it last night. Ironically, if you take off and strafe the Fw190s, they will take off. Ill keep working on it. So frustrating, it worked just fine before the last patch (or couple of patches).
katdog5 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Thanks again for this campaign. I was just so pleased with myself when I passed that first mission. Im the best
Sky_Wolf Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I think the devs should help make this campaign bug-less and official, sell it to us, and give you a portion of the proceeds. It has all the ingredients for a high quality scripted campaign, only needs AI improvements. Did you put the updated campaign up for download yet?
Jade_Monkey Posted October 11, 2017 Author Posted October 11, 2017 Thanks for your kind words! Being my first attempt to build a campaign, I don't think it's up to par with similar monetized campaigns. It needs a bit more content, a deeper narrative (i hate writing), and a bit more polish. I also like to contribute to the community and i think it's good to have a mix of paid and free content available. Regarding the files, I have not uploaded the new ones. I was waiting to fix mission #2 that is unplayable right now. I might move the airfield completely to a new location as a redical attempt to fixing this.
Yogiflight Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I might move the airfield completely to a new location as a redical attempt to fixing this. But mission #1, starting from Sekretov airfield, like mission #2, works pretty fine.
Jade_Monkey Posted October 11, 2017 Author Posted October 11, 2017 Do the planes take off with no issues for you? Some people, including me sometimes, are having issues with the planes drifting and crashing on takeoff, or just not taking off at all.
BlznSaddles Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Mission 2 doesn't work for me, once in a blue moon the AI will attempt to take off but almost always one of them crashes. Most of the time they just sit on the runway.
Chief_Mouser Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I just completed Mission 2. All of the planes taxied ok, but no.2 crashed into a searchlight when taking off. He was going slow so may have done something before that as well. It's a good mission though - I downed two Sturmoviks, one quite spectacularly in a ball of fire, picked up a fuel leak but still made it home. Good stuff, cheers.
