Hopper64 Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Got in OR today. Took a while to set up. Works quite well. I am very impressed. The developers have really done a superb job here. Excellent work guys, as usual. Getting everything tweaked. Noticed the OR software recommends an updated driver for USB. I contacted Inateck and they recommended the windows 10 driver. Recommendations here? Thanks. Inateck device: https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Superspeed-Ports-PCI-E-Expansion/dp/B00FPIMICA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1491999944&sr=8-6&keywords=inateck+usb+3.0+pcie
Hopper64 Posted April 15, 2017 Author Posted April 15, 2017 Are these updated drivers? No date on them. https://support.frescologic.com/portal/kb/articles/latest-drivers
dburne Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) I am runing the Fresco Logic 3.6.9.0 Drivers dated 8/2/16 on the Innatek card, works beautifully for me. Note you have to disable power management for it's USB 3.0 Root Hub upon each new boot, you don't want it dropping out takes a restart to get it back. That setting does not seem to stick for each boot. Also you will want to disable power management for your sensor as well, that setting for me does stick afterwards for each boot. Congrats on the new Rift, good choice!! Edited April 16, 2017 by dburne
Hopper64 Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 Seems like the native W10 driver works fine. Dated March 2017. Don't know why the OR software doesn't like it. Where do you disable power management as you stated? Thanks for all the help. Most appreciated.
dburne Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Hmm in Device Manager I have more than one Fresco Logic USB listing, one of them is Fresco Logic USB 3.0 Root Hub - that one has a power management tab and I have to disable it there . Perhaps you only have the one listing since you are running the Windows drivers instead of the Fresco Logic drivers... Also check in Device Manager under Oculus for your sensor, make sure power management is disabled for it. As long as you are not having any issues with your device dropping out due to power management , your are golden.
jamesp111 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 There are many posts about this driver update - don't do it if you haven't already. The golden rule with the Rift is don't change anything if it's working well ;-) So if you have done this and it works then leave it as-is. I did this update then rolled it back but I can't remember why.
Hopper64 Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 OK. Well, I had a USB error twice on cold boot. The device manager had an issue with no driver for a USB hub, so I installed the driver from Oculus' website and rebooted. No more issues in device manager and no error on boot.
