JG4_Sputnik Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I have three thus far: - Flying through a Flak barrage in a He-111 (you only can imagine how this must've felt in RL, with the glass canopy and all, very, very humbling yet exciting experience!) - In my room where my PC is, I have a small window just right beside my head. I left it open for letting in air and then I went VR - suddenly it got windy outside and blew some air in my face, and, hands down, I checked my canopy window and thought it was open and wanted to close it in VR - no kidding! - An early morning sortie with an Fw190, light clouds and tons of god rays - the shadows and the light and all made for such a great scenery that I just flew with a big grin on my face doing nothing but sight seeing. Epic! Love to hear what yours where!Cheers! 1
dburne Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 So far probably my favorite was a quick mission I just finished over Stalingrad at low level ( Dogfight 3 versus 4). I was flying my Yak-1 with two other wingmen, against 4 109's. It was a long drawn out duel. Some very intense action had my palms sweating and heart racing. Finally I am up against the last 109 ( My wingmen both had bitten the dust). I had taken some hits and my canopy suffered some breakage, and my windscreen was slowly turning black from the soot ( apparently had taken a little engine damage or oil rad). The 109 was smoking some white smoke pretty good as well, so he was not in best of shape. Managed to get on his six, and after some weaving and bobbing got a good round on him and off his wing flies, luckily not hitting my plane. So being somewhat crippled now, can't hardly see out the windscreen, I open the canopy and lean out a little of the cockpit. I look around for any airstrip to land on just to set her down, and did so making a beautiful landing. Raised the flaps and killed the engine. Then - I stood up out of my chair, climbed out of the plane, and walked around it surveilling the damage it had taken, while talking inwardly to myself, telling myself how very lucky I was to survive the day and land in one piece... Turned around and took one more look at the plumes of black smoke rising above Stalingrad in the distance, thanked my lucky stars and exited out for a congratulatory smoke. 3
OrLoK Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I love it when i forget im in VR. The other day i held my hand up in front of my face trying to shield my eyes from the sun's glare. Splendid! 1

1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Not from BOX but I'd thought I'd share. I have a small space heater next to my chair for when it gets cold in the basement. Started my Blackshark and the heat was too high so I opened the sharks door to lean down to turn the heater off!
OrLoK Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Ive physically fallen over after trying a replay in DCS and standing on my wing. 1
ICDP Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 (edited) Just tonight I was strafing some Wurfrahmen 40 (Sdkfz 251 haltrack rocket artillery). I got some good hits on one just before I ran out of sky and the resulting debris and smoke cloud engulfed my P-40. I physically ducked my head a bit as I screamed through the flying debris. My first epic VR moment in a sim was just loading up DCS 109K for the very first time and actually feeling so claustrophobic I had to open the virtual canopy. Another epic moment was my first look at the inside of a Coriolis station in Elite Dangerous. The sense of scale and size just left me sitting there amazed. Both experiences were with an Oculus DK2 and despite them I sold it after a week due to the seriously bad SDE and poor resolution. I now have a CV1 and while it still has serious IQ problems (ahem godrays) it is much improved over DK2. Edited April 15, 2017 by ICDP
HagarTheHorrible Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 If we're just sticking to BoX, then so far it's watching flamers, they look so much more solid, horrifying and real. I also enjoyed doing a mission in the 88, putting it on autopilot and then sliding across into the Navigators seat and just watching the action. I don't know if, in part, it was seeing the pilots body in the pilots seat that isn't there when you sit in it yourself. 1
piiman314 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Ive physically fallen over after trying a replay in DCS and standing on my wing. Speaking of DCS I was flying around the Vegas Strip and weaving in and out of buildings and as I made sharp banking turn I said to myself "Oh My God" and has I come out of the turn a big office building right dead in from of me was named OMG INDUSTRIES . lol 1
