Bearfoot Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 So when playing games that use the native Oculus Rift SDK, such as DCS, I soooooooooo do NOT want to work through the SteamVR SDK. Problem is that even after quitting SteamVR, it relaunches everytime I start DCS. I know there is a checkbox under the developer settings that says "launch when application starts" or something like that, and I definitely have that unchecked. Yet the issue still occurs. Anyone else? Any solutions?
dburne Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Hmm just checked mine, I am not having that problem. That is odd, maybe have a look around in Steam VR settings for a clue?

Hi Don, Would you mind trying the following: shutdown the Oculus Rift service (either using the Oculus Debug Tool or the Oculus Tray Tool), exit SteamVR, and then launch DCS and see if it occurs?

Well am I thinking wrong, if you shut down the service and then start DCS with not running Oculus service/runtime, perhaps it is then finding Steam VR and utilizing it as it does not see it's own service running? Does your DCS launch Steam VR if you do not shut down the Oculus service? I have already put mine away for the evening as we are about to turn in. 1

That is, if the Rift service is down, SteamVR will automatically launch when starting DCS. Otherwise it will not. Thanks!

Good deal. Fwiw, when not using my Rift I of course close Oculus Home but I never stop the service from running when computer is on. I always like to have it ready to go at my beck and call lol.
