Semor76 Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I messed up the Pilot Head position with the F10 key. Is there a way to reset it to default without reinstalling the whole Game? I cant find a key for it in the settings menue thx in advance
Finkeren Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 1. Turn off head tracking or VR. 2. Use the keyboard to move pilot head into the desired default position. 3. Hit F10 to save the new default position. 4. Go i to setting and reassign the "Save default pilot head position"-key to something other than F10 (I use ctrl+F10) so it doesn't happen again. 1
SakerVVS Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 There's a reset position somewhere, it's something I did before my first flight. Have it mapped to my joystick
curiousGamblerr Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 You can delete the head position file and the game will go back to defaults when you fly that aircraft again and recreate the file. I'm at work so I can't give the path right now but if nobody else gives it PM to remind me and I'll find it next time I fly. 1
Finkeren Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I don't get why people are so keen to delete setting just because they made one foul-up? It's so much easier to just fix that one head position on one aircraft, and it's really, really easy to do.

Thx but I didnt have head tracking or VR.I just use the Mouse in the Cockpit. I messed things up in a way that a go back to default is too time consuming. I already try it out. Personally, I feel I can never get it perfectly back to the default when I make this mistake. There is a single file per aircraft, so it's not like you have to delete all your views, just the file for the aircraft you messed up. Semor, the directory is YOUR_INSTALL_DIRECTORY/data/LuaScripts/snapviews btw (my install directory is C:/Program Files (x86)/1C Game Studios/IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Moscow, yours may differ). You might consider backing up your install directory before messing around in here. I haven't done it in over a year, but it should be as simple as deleting the .svc file for whatever plane you messed up, then just flying that plane again and it should be back to the defaults.
Jade_Monkey Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Simple, just press Numpad 5 to center the view and then F10 to set that as the default view again. To do this disable all tracking devices first.

Boaty-McBoatface Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Reset button would be nice. If we delete that file then we will lose all saved head positions for all planes right?

This sucks. I was playing and my cat stepped on f10, now my view is all messed up. Edited November 6, 2018 by Sybreed
Ghost666 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Disable Tracker IR then press and hold numpad 5. While holding numpad 5 adjust your view using the mouse and head up/down/left/right keys. When you get it where you want press F10. This will reset your numpad 5 position.
F/JG300_Gruber Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 First mistake was to put that command on F10 by default. It should be ctrl+F10 or some other combo unlikely to be hit accidentally. Something you definitely want to change as soon as you intalled the game.

Field-Ops Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Interesting for this topic to show back up, as after this update my 190A8 has reset its default view into a slouch or child height position...

1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Just hold KP5 then use insert ,del ,home etc plus mouse if you like to move head position to the center and holding kp5 press f10 to save. 1

It has to do with the new German pilot model. The G-14 camera positions were reset as well. 2
IckyATLAS Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 I see some have the TC Cap or FC Vol1 badge. What is this?

IckyATLAS Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 Ah I see. I do not have yet the Tank stuff. Hard for me to stay crammed in a tin can.
RainbowCorner3 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 God bless the mighty savants that bail out us feckless noobs. (Been around since the original IL-2 Sturmovik in 2001 or so. Still a noob,) I had the Spitfire Vb stuck with the pilot in midair looking down at the right wing root. I knew about the F10 thing, what I did not know about was [Alt + "Tab"] to get out to the desktop and turn FaceTrackNoir on and off. (Using that with Tobii 5 since TrackIR won't work in my present location, too many spurious IR sources. Wouldn't it be nice if the devs would support Tobii the way DCS does. . .)
